Location- United States, Remote with up to 75% travel Position Summary ON.energy is looking for a skilled Supplier Quality Engineer to support the supplier quality activities related to battery energy storage systems (BESS) across the full equipment lifecycle—from procurement and factory testing to site delivery and installation. In this role, you will work closely with engineering, supply chain, and construction teams in the processes of selecting, auditing and evaluating suppliers, reviewing vendor’s Inspection and Test Plans, coordinating and witnessing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and provide field support during installation and commissioning for key components including batteries, inverters, transformers, switchgear and ATS, and auxiliary systems. This role focuses on preventing quality issues at the source – ensuring suppliers maintain robust manufacturing and test processes – and tracking non-conformances through resolution prior to shipment. This role is best suited for engineers with hands-on experience working with manufacturing suppliers of electrical or industrial equipment. The role focuses on suppliers manufacturing critical electrical equipment used in utility-scale energy storage systems. Key Responsibilities - Drive Supplier Selection, Evaluation and Qualification based on the company’s Supplier Quality processes and tools. - Support the definition and documentation of Supplier Quality processes in compliance with ISO 9001 and other applicable requirements. - Perform supplier process audits at new and existing vendors to evaluate manufacturing processes, production controls, and supplier quality systems in alignment with company standards and ISO 9001 requirements. - Ensure all activities related to the Supplier Audit process are properly maintained and executed, including the Audit Planning and Reporting documentation. - Update the supplier quality database (Documents Control). - Management of supplier related quality issues, guiding the root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions and process improvements, ensuring effective and sustainable solutions are in place. - Review and approve supplier quality documentation, including Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), FAT procedures, Control Plans and / or quality control documentation packages. - Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) at OEM and ensure test results and documentation meet approved criteria. - Identify, log, and track non-conformances (NCRs); drive timely root cause analysis and corrective actions with vendors. - Review and validate supplier material traceability records, certificates, and inspection reports. - Collaborate with Engineering and Supply Chain to qualify new vendors and support supplier onboarding. - Provide supplier performance feedback and input to quality metrics and supplier scorecards. - Maintain complete, accurate, and traceable quality documentation packages for each project. - Support development and continuous improvement of quality standards, templates, and best practices across equipment types. - Evaluate supplier manufacturing processes and production controls to ensure suppliers can consistently meet technical and quality requirements. Must Have Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Industrial, or Quality Engineering (or a closely related technical field) or equivalent hands-on experience working with electrical equipment and systems in a manufacturing or industrial environment - 3-7 years of experience in supplier or product quality engineering within the energy or manufacturing industry - Hands-on experience with electrical power systems, BESS, inverters, transformers, switchgear, or other similar equipment - Experience with supplier process audits including evaluating supplier manufacturing processes (VDA 6.3 or similar process audit frameworks are a plus) - Working knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001) and manufacturing quality tools (8D, SPC, PFMEA, control plans, FAI / PPAP) - Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (IEEE 1547, UL 9540/9540A, IEC, ISO 9001, NEC) and general equipment test protocols. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical understanding of manufacturing processes - Willingness to travel (up to 75%) to vendor locations (domestic and international) and project sites - Excellent communication and documentation abilities; capable of interfacing effectively with suppliers and cross-functional teams Preferred Qualifications - Experience with Tier 1 energy equipment manufacturers - CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) and ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification. - Familiarity with quality management tools, NCR tracking tools, and dashboard reporting. - Experience supporting supplier quality activities during New Product Introduction (NPI). Role Description ON.energy is seeking a Commissioning Engineer (Field Engineer / Systems Integrator) to execute system-level commissioning, lead small on-site teams, and drive project milestones across ON.energy’s mission-critical, medium-voltage double-conversion UPS deployments built on utility-scale and C&I BESS equipment (batteries, transformers, PCS, and controls). Reporting to a Senior Commissioning Engineer, you will be trusted to operate autonomously on-site — managing testing, troubleshooting, and documentation while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. This is a high-travel, hands-on field role. You will spend the majority of your time on project sites across the U.S. and occasionally internationally. The ideal candidate is technically sharp, highly organized, and comfortable leading a small team in fast-paced construction environments. Key Responsibilities - Commissioning & Testing - Execute system-level commissioning tests including functionality checks, network verification, and performance validation for data center, utility-scale, and C&I BESS projects. - Support FAT validation and site acceptance testing (SAT) in coordination with OEM and owner engineers. - Perform functional testing of inverters, PCS, BMS, EMS/SCADA, protection relays, and associated BOS equipment. - Identify, document, and resolve commissioning deficiencies; manage punch lists through to closeout. - Team & Project Leadership - Manage a subset of the on-site commissioning team (2–10 people), autonomously driving project initiatives as directed by the Senior Commissioning Engineer and management team. - Coordinate daily with EPC contractors, OEM field service engineers, and the ON.energy project and engineering teams to resolve technical challenges and keep milestones on track. - Collaborate with internal and external teams to resolve technical challenges as they arise in the field. - Controls & Systems Integration - Review and validate configurations for PLC, SCADA, EMS, network infrastructure, and related control systems. - Conduct troubleshooting for control system issues, network faults, and inverter problems. - Verify system configuration against design drawings, specifications, and interconnection requirements. - Support integration and testing of SCADA/DMS communications (DNP3, Modbus, etc.) - Safety & Quality - Foster and maintain a culture of safety for all team members on site, owning the Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) programs. - Support safety inspections and risk assessments throughout the commissioning lifecycle. - Ensure commissioning activities comply with NFPA 70E, NEC, IEEE, and applicable NERC/FERC standards. - Provide field reports and maintain thorough, audit-ready documentation for all commissioning activities. Qualifications - 3–6 years of hands-on commissioning experience on BESS, solar + storage, or utility-scale renewable energy projects. - Direct experience with battery storage systems including BMS, PCS/inverter, and EMS/SCADA commissioning. - Proficiency reading and interpreting electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and P&IDs. - Working knowledge of protection relay testing, CT/PT verification, and DC/AC high-voltage systems. - Strong technical writing skills; ability to produce clear field reports and commissioning documents. - Valid driver’s license and US passport. - Ability to travel >80% of the time. Preferred Qualifications - Hands-on experience with one or more major BESS OEMs (Tesla Megapack, BYD, CATL, Sungrow, or similar). - Familiarity with SCADA communication protocols: DNP3, Modbus TCP/RTU, etc. - Familiarity with utility interconnection processes (distribution and transmission). - NETA, NICET, or relevant electrical certifications. - OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification; NFPA 70E training. - Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems, or a related technical field (or equivalent field experience). Role Description The Senior Electrical Specialist serves as ON.energy’s qualifying master electrician of record in the State of Texas and the on-site electrical subject matter expert for AI UPS deployments at hyperscale data center campuses. Holding (and “hanging”) an active Texas Master Commercial Electrician license under ON.energy for the duration of employment is a core function of the role and a condition of hire. This is a high-travel, hands-on field role and an individual contributor position with no direct reports. The Specialist is the primary escalation path for electrical issues during commissioning — validating workmanship and code compliance, witnessing and signing off on key electrical tests, and driving issues to resolution with EPCs, AHJs, utilities, and OEMs on aggressive schedules. The ideal candidate brings deep field electrical experience and the authority to hold the line on safety and code compliance. Position Overview: The Site Project Manager for our Data Center Projects is responsible for leading the full lifecycle execution of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and hybrid energy projects at the site level for data centers. This role is integral to the successful delivery of complex energy infrastructure, beginning with site mobilization and construction planning through execution, commissioning support, and project closeout. Reporting directly to the Project Executive, this role oversees all on-site activities, managing teams and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality standards and contractual obligations. The Site Project Manager works closely with the Commissioning Manager to coordinate system turnover activities, including managing documentation, overseeing on-site vendor activities, facilitating punch list resolution, and aligning the general contractor’s efforts with the needs of the commissioning team. Key Responsibilities: - Serve as the jobsite primary point of contact with the client, maintaining alignment across all project stages. - Supporting the Project Executive in delivering the full scope of project execution, including safety, schedule, budget, engineering, quality, commissioning, and compliance. - Develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules using recognized tools and methodologies. - Support with execution to align with project budgets from planning to final close-out, including monthly forecasting and variance tracking. - Identify, assess, and mitigate jobsite level project risks related to cost, safety, quality, and delivery. - Oversee daily on-site operations by monitoring General Contractor and subcontractor activities to ensure alignment with project scope, safety requirements, and quality expectations. - Oversee vendor on-site activities to ensure adherence to site safety rules, quality standards, and equipment commissioning timelines. - Lead and facilitate regular coordination meetings with the General Contractor, subcontractors, and client teams to track progress, resolve issues, and align on upcoming work. - Conduct routine site walks to observe construction activities, validate compliance with design documents, and identify potential risks or deviations early. - Manage field quality activities include coordinating equipment receipt inspections, managing installation inspections, and ensuring documentation for quality reporting is maintained. - Support the Project Executive in managing all change orders, RFIs, NCRs, PCNs, and VCNs in a timely and traceable manner. - Ensue daily JSA/JHAs are in place, morning toolbox meetings occur, safety and commissioning teams are aligned prior to the start of daily activities, end of day meeting to ensure alignment on next days activities and goals. - Foster strong relationships with clients, suppliers and partners to improve execution quality and delivery performance. - Support Project Executive in validating subcontractor invoices and payment applications by cross-referencing with field progress and contractual terms. - Collaborate closely with safety personnel and commissioning teams to ensure daily readiness, compliance with site safety protocols, and startup of new systems. - Coordinate closely with the Commissioning Site Manager to align construction activities with system readiness, turnover packages, and commissioning schedules - Support contract close-out and final project documentation handover. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field (required). - Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in energy project management, preferably in battery energy storage or related fields. - Demonstrated experience managing EPC contractors and overseeing complex infrastructure projects at project sites. - Proficient in project scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and budget tracking systems. - Deep understanding of project controls, cost forecasting, and risk management best practices. - Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. - Excellent communication and client-facing skills. - Bilingual English/Spanish preferred (not required).
