Assistant Project Manager - Engineering
Fluor
Role Description This is a remote opportunity with 10% travel. The APM works under the general direction of the Supervising Transportation Engineer (Sup TE). The Assistant PM Engineering will serve in a technical support role to the Planning and Engineering - Strategic Delivery Office Locally Generated Alternative (LGA) Team and will be responsible for: - Providing support in overseeing the technical designs for preliminary and advanced engineering documents/deliverables. - Supporting the management and tracking specific tasks and deliverables within the design contract. - Ensuring that assigned contracts and agreements are administered and managed in accordance with applicable policies and procedures. - Assisting in the design oversight of utility and local facility relocations impacted by the California High-Speed Rail Authority project. Responsibilities: - Assist in oversight of technical design for engineering plans, calculations, and reports. - Perform a programmatic review of technical submittals to ensure product quality and conformance with applicable design criteria. - Conduct independent quality assurance and verification inspections of deliverables as directed. - Provide technical support for analysis and interpretation of documents such as reports, studies, and plans. - Support the Sup TE to provide Over the Shoulder review, coordinated with various functions of the Authority. - Provide assistance and feedback on innovative technical approaches to meet project milestones. - Assist with coordination and solicitation of feedback from internal and external stakeholders. - Document meetings and disseminate information to necessary internal and external partners. - Review and provide feedback on draft changes to configuration documents related to engineering design. - Assist in the identification of project risks and help identify mitigation as needed. - Other related duties may be assigned. Qualifications - Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study. - Ten (10) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to fourteen (14) years if non-degreed. - Ability to communicate effectively with various audiences. - Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job. - Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines. - Attention to detail and ability to work in a time-conscious manner. Requirements - Experience in project management and managing multi-discipline teams to meet project milestones. - Participate in Fluor University courses for continued learning experiences. - Utilize Knowledge Management processes to capture and leverage relevant knowledge. - Support the projects by providing an environment for the development and professional advancement of project personnel. - Ability to travel within the state of California up to 10%. Preferred Qualifications - Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent. - Ten (10) plus years of civil engineering experience. - Five (5) plus years of high-speed rail experience. - Ability to apply engineering judgment in design of high-speed rail projects. - Knowledge of various phases and functional responsibility of high-speed rail project development and delivery. - Familiarity with federal and state contracting laws and regulations.
