Instructional Assistant (Cloud Systems Engineering)

Role Description Per Scholas seeks a dynamic, team-oriented individual to serve as an Instructional Associate. The Instructional Associate will play an essential role in our organization’s mission as he/she trains Per Scholas learners to be outstanding entry and mid-level technicians. What You’ll Do - Classroom Facilitation: - Assist the Technical Instructor in conducting technical training using a structured and approved curriculum. - Competencies include hardware, software, networking, security, server, mobility, virtualization, cyber security, web development, quality assurance, and project management. - Facilitate classroom activities in a highly interactive, hands-on style. - Form and lead study groups based on instructor evaluations. - Consult with the instructor to determine daily activities and gather necessary tools for lectures and labs. - Understand the curriculum and be prepared to conduct a lesson if needed. - Ensure all equipment loaned to learners is returned appropriately. - Utilize an in-house Learning Management System for assignments, tests, and performance monitoring. - Class sizes range from approximately 15-30 learners. - Managing Learner Performance: - Provide ongoing feedback to learners and recognize challenges early. - Coordinate with instructors and career coaches to promote learner success. - Implement individualized study plans for struggling learners. - Participate in required learner progress meetings. - Monitor and enforce class attendance, dress code, and program policies. - Administrative: - Participate in staff meetings. - Conduct real-time learner data entry in Salesforce and/or Canvas. Qualifications - Working knowledge of Java and Spring Boot fundamentals. - Able to support learners with RESTful API development, controllers/services/repositories, and basic layered architecture. - Comfortable with SQL fundamentals and querying relational databases. - Daily use of Git/GitHub and able to resolve simple merge conflicts. - Experience running or monitoring CI/CD pipelines. - Ability to navigate the AWS Console and familiarity with IAM users and roles. - Understanding of Agile/Scrum ceremonies and workflows. - Strong collaborator who supports both instructional staff and learners.
