Job Description
Manager, Cost Accounting
Formfactor
• Lead all cost accounting activities, including standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold (COGS) reporting. • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes related to manufacturing costs. • Ensure accuracy of inventory accounting, including reserves, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes. • Analyze manufacturing variances (labor, overhead, scrap, yield) and provide actionable insights to business leaders. • Support product costing, new product introductions (NPI), and ongoing cost improvement initiatives. • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, internal controls (SOX), and corporate accounting policies. • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to improve cost performance and operational efficiency. • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support capacity decisions, capital investments, and process improvements. • Drive standard cost updates and review cost assumptions with site leadership. • Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes. • Identify and implement process improvements in cost accounting workflows and reporting. • Maintain and enhance ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or equivalent) related to cost accounting. • Develop reporting tools and dashboards to improve transparency of manufacturing costs. • Standardize processes across sites where applicable. • Manage, develop, and lead a team of cost accountants (typically 3–8 employees).
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience
