Job Description

Manager, Cost Accounting

Formfactor

• Lead all cost accounting activities, including standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold (COGS) reporting. • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes related to manufacturing costs. • Ensure accuracy of inventory accounting, including reserves, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes. • Analyze manufacturing variances (labor, overhead, scrap, yield) and provide actionable insights to business leaders. • Support product costing, new product introductions (NPI), and ongoing cost improvement initiatives. • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, internal controls (SOX), and corporate accounting policies. • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to improve cost performance and operational efficiency. • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support capacity decisions, capital investments, and process improvements. • Drive standard cost updates and review cost assumptions with site leadership. • Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes. • Identify and implement process improvements in cost accounting workflows and reporting. • Maintain and enhance ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or equivalent) related to cost accounting. • Develop reporting tools and dashboards to improve transparency of manufacturing costs. • Standardize processes across sites where applicable. • Manage, develop, and lead a team of cost accountants (typically 3–8 employees).

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience

Role Description The Accounting Specialist plays a critical role in the financial operations of the organization. This position is responsible for various accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial transactions and reporting. The Accounting Specialist reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and collaborates closely with other members of the finance team. Essential Functions - Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and expense reimbursements. - Accounts Payable: Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payments.
