Section 1: Position Summary Responsible for assisting with the general ledger month-end close process for the FuturePlan business, including the preparation and reconciliation of balance sheets and income statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards. Provides audit support and partners with management to support financial reporting and analysis. Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Own month-end close activities related to expenses, including the preparation and review of expense-related journal entries, accruals, and reclassifications, and serve as the primary expense contact. - Support other aspects of the FuturePlan monthly close, including ancillary revenue accruals, while ensuring compliance with internal control requirements. - Prepare journal entries, perform balance sheet reconciliations, conduct account fluctuation analyses, and investigate variances. - Prepare and analyze monthly profit and loss statements and balance sheet reporting. - Support external audit activities, including the preparation of supporting schedules and response to audit inquiries, as needed. - Develop and maintain clear and complete narrative documentation for accounting processes, procedures, and controls. - Ensure accurate revenue and expense recognition in accordance with U.S. GAAP; research technical accounting guidance and draft accounting memos as required. - Lead and contribute to special projects in support of management and broader finance initiatives. - Partner with business leaders and cross-functional teams to track, analyze, and explain revenues and expenses. - Proactively identify accounting issues and recommend process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness of financial reporting. - Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients. - Our I-Client service philosophy and our Core Values of People Matter, Quality First and Integrity Always® should be visible in your actions on a day-to-day basis showing your support of our organizational culture. Supervision - Support the professional development of members of the accounting team including co-ops and interns. Section 3: Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements - Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required. - Industry accounting experience or a mix of public accounting and industry accounting experience - 2-4 years of accounting experience. - Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required - Ability to work effectively within tight timeframes and meet deadlines. - Highly analytical and detail oriented with an aptitude for problem solving. - Ability to work independently; strong communication and organizational skills. - Ability to streamline and improve accounting processes. - Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational objectives.
