• Identify and manage existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled • Manage complex litigation claims, including evaluation, strategy development, and negotiation of settlements • Follow written risk and compliance policies and procedures for business activities • Adjust complex bodily injury claims with significant demonstrable injuries (e.g. traumatic brain injury, disfigurement, fatality) and UIM claims, as well as all auto physical damage associated with those claims • Identify, confirm, and make coverage decisions on complex claims • Investigate loss details, determine legal liability, evaluate, negotiate, and arrive at claim settlement within appropriate authority guidelines • Clearly document thought process, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement decisions • Prioritize and manage assigned claims workload to keep members and other involved parties informed, provide timely claims status updates • Collaborate and support team members to resolve issues and identify appropriate matters for escalation • Partners and/or directs vendors and internal business partners to facilitate timely claims resolution • Serves as a resource for less experienced team members on complex claims
Job Requirements
- Expert knowledge and understanding of the auto claims contract as well as application of case law and state laws and regulations
- Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days and designated number of attempts
- Ongoing Professional Development with a focus on Insurance
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
- 4 years of casualty adjusting experience required
- 6 or more years auto liability/casualty adjusting experience preferred
- 2+ years of Bodily Injury litigation handling experience strongly preferred
- Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work
- Skills in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias
- Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insights
- Familiarity with AI assisted research, summarization, and content generation
- Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection

Role Description We’re looking for an Auto Appraiser to join our growing team on a 12-month term. - Inspect vehicles and determine the cause and origin of accident-related damage using appraisal software, managing claims of varying complexity based on your experience. - Review, assess, and approve repair estimates by comparing shop estimates with your appraisal findings. - Determine vehicle market value when required, using approved tools and appraisal standards. - Create clear, accurate repair estimates using digital estimating platforms, with a focus on consistency and minimizing errors. - Communicate and negotiate best repair practices with repair partners and internal stakeholders. - Meet productivity and service-quality targets aligned with Appraisal standards and Claims objectives. Qualifications - College diploma, university degree, trade certification, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - 1–3 years of collision repair and/or estimating experience. - Experience with estimating software (Audatex and/or Mitchell); ability to prepare estimates in Audatex is an asset. - Strong knowledge of auto physical damage repair and replacement principles and techniques. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment and attention to detail. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, including drafting clear claim documentation. - A customer-focused mindset and commitment to continuous learning.
