• Execute global privacy compliance efforts (GDPR, CPRA), including drafting data processing frameworks, privacy policies, and DPAs. • Manage day-to-day privacy operations, including data protection impact assessments, data subject rights (DSARs), and internal guidance. • Partner with internal stakeholders (Product, Security, IT) to align privacy practices with business objectives and regulatory standards. • Act as the primary internal radar for privacy risk and customer/vendor data obligations, escalating high-risk items to executive leadership. • Lead the negotiation of commercial contracts, SaaS agreements, and data licenses, ensuring IP protection and liability mitigation. • Maintain and update internal redline standards, fallback clauses, and negotiation playbooks. • Streamline the contract lifecycle management (CLM) process to resolve inefficiencies and accelerate deal cycles for Sales and Finance. • Review and negotiate vendor agreements, evaluating third-party risk and ensuring contract compliance. • Advise Product and Engineering teams on legal implications of new features, public APIs, and platform policies. • Draft and maintain public-facing terms of service, API use policies, and acceptable use standards. • Provide legal guidance to HR on employment matters: contractor classifications, policies, and global employment frameworks. • Support corporate governance needs, including board documentation prep and compliance reporting. • Manage legal operations infrastructure: tools, templates, and matter management tracking. • Deliver internal training programs (especially on data privacy) across the company. • Coordinate workflows with external legal administrative support and collaborate with specialized outside counsel on complex matters.
Job Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in at least one US state.
- 3-5+ years of relevant legal experience, with at least 1-2 years in-house at a SaaS or technology company preferred.
- Familiarity with SaaS procurement models, SOC 2 requirements, or vendor security review processes.
- Experience with, or strong understanding of, public APIs and open-access data terms.
- Exposure to managing legal tech tools (CLM software) and coordinating with outside counsel.
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) certification is a strong plus.
