Level Designer – AAA
Virtuos
• Design levels that offer meaningful, engaging experiences, balancing challenge, reward, and player progression. • Work closely with other departments (art, programming, narrative) to integrate gameplay mechanics, visuals, and story into cohesive levels. • Organize and participate in playtesting sessions, analyzing player feedback to refine and optimize level designs. • Keep track of the level design’s progress, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule and that any issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner. • Work closely with programmers and technical artists to ensure that levels are feasible within the game’s technical constraints.
Job Requirements
- 5–7 years of game design experience with a strong focus on FPS level design.
- Participation in at least two AAA titles and a strong portfolio with polished, well‑structured levels.
- Deep understanding of gameplay systems, mechanics, narrative design, and player psychology, with the ability to balance difficulty and pacing.
- Experience with scripting and advanced tools to create dynamic, interactive environments.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with art, programming, sound, and narrative teams; strong communication and receptiveness to feedback.
- Solid time‑management skills, ability to work with deadlines, and iterate based on testing and feedback.
- Experience designing levels across multiple genres and building immersive environments through environmental storytelling.
- Knowledge of Unreal, Unity, CryEngine, or proprietary engines; strong scripting/programming skills for events, triggers, and AI behaviors.
- Ability to motivate and support the team, mentor junior designers, and provide constructive feedback.
- Proactive problem-solving and flexibility in handling various design challenges (combat, narrative, puzzles).
- Strong conflict-resolution skills and the ability to maintain a positive, productive team environment.
