About the role: Adeia is seeking a technically skilled and analytically driven IP Analyst to support the strategic development of our patent portfolios and contribute to business-critical decision-making. This hybrid role combines IP analytics, M&A due diligence, and AI tools support to drive data-informed IP strategy. In addition to conducting traditional IP research and analysis, this analyst will manage and support internally developed AI tools, as well as evaluate third-party tools and platforms (e.g., patent search, IP analytics, AI services). The ideal candidate will bring both IP domain knowledge and a solid technical foundation, including familiarity with prompt engineering, Python programming, and basic web development concepts. Primary Duties: IP Portfolio Strategy & Analytics - Track and visualize patent metrics, including filing trends, portfolio statistics, and strategic coverage. - Create dashboards and reports that communicate actionable insights to internal and external stakeholders. - Perform patent landscaping, whitespace analysis, and prior art searching for core areas including media technologies and semiconductor process innovations. M&A and IP Due Diligence - Conduct patent diligence for acquisition targets. - Evaluate portfolios for family members, ownership, geographic coverage and risk. - Summarize findings and collaborate with internal stakeholders across legal, corporate development, and portfolio management teams. AI Tool Support & Technology Evaluation - Manage and support internally developed AI tools, including those used for patent analytics, infringement and validity analysis, report automation, and strategic insights. - Leverage prompt engineering techniques and APIs to generate dynamic prompts and automate end-to-end workflows. - Build and maintain Python-based tools for AI workflows, including basic API and web integrations. - Research and assess third-party tools and platforms (e.g., AI, IP search, analytics) for potential adoption. - Prepare business and technical recommendations for enhancing IP workflows with new tools and automation. Cross-Functional Collaboration - Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including legal counsel, R&D teams, corporate development team, and business leaders to align IP strategies with business objectives. - Support process improvement initiatives by identifying technology solutions that streamline IP operations. Required: - 2+ years of hands-on experience in patent analytics, IP portfolio management, or IP licensing within a corporate IP department, R&D organization, or IP consulting/services environment. - Demonstrated experience with professional patent search and analytics platforms - such as Innography, AcclaimIP, Derwent Innovation, PatSnap, IPRally, Orbit, or PatBase - Direct experience conducting patent landscaping, whitespace analysis, prior art searching, or IP due diligence in support of business or legal decisions. - Strong data analysis and visualization skills, with the ability to translate patent data into executive-ready dashboards, portfolio reports, and strategic summaries. - Familiarity with AI-assisted IP workflows, prompt engineering, or automation tools applied to patent analytics or reporting. - Comfort working with Python, APIs, or data pipeline tools in support of analytics or workflow automation - Self-starter with a track record of working independently in ambiguous, cross-functional environments and taking ownership of deliverables end-to-end. Preferred: - Experience with tools for portfolio dashboards and reporting. - Familiarity with IP management platforms such as Anaqua, FoundationIP, or similar docketing/portfolio systems. - Experience supporting M&A or IP due diligence processes, including portfolio evaluation for family members, ownership chains, geographic coverage, and risk. - Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Materials Science) or equivalent practical experience. National Range: $140,000 - $180,000 The base compensation range is based on the primary work location of the candidate, as our ranges are location-specific. Role Description The Data Solutions Analyst will provide data-driven technical support by serving as liaison to operations processes while working within our data warehouse to ensure exceptional member service. The core function of the analyst will be exploratory data analysis to present custom and visually appealing data-driven insights targeted at efficiency, discernment, and cost avoidance.
