• author internal and customer-facing documentation for several highly technical products. • understand various product areas, working with a cross-functional team, along with authoring documents including release notes, user guides, API documents, and other documentation deliverables in a timely manner. • Interact with the subject matter experts including developers, product managers, customer support and sales to understand software deliverables to provide release notes and other documents for general availability releases. • Research, analyze data and test new and existing software to develop documentation content. • Strong ability to grasp technical concepts and ensure accuracy of customer-facing documentation. • Develop product information with simple and concise English by organizing ideas and translating complex technical terms into information readers can understand. • Understand and ensure documentation attributes of task orientation, accuracy, completeness, clarity, concreteness, organization, retrievability, and visual effectiveness. • Communicate issues and seek support in a timely manner to deliver documentation within software release deadlines. • Work independently while also being detail-oriented, organized, a team-player, and approachable. • Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. • Strive to continually improve the quality of our product documentation.
Job Requirements
- prior documentation experience authoring documentation for software products.
- BS/BA in Computer Science or other relevant fields.
- At least 5+ years of experience in software technical documentation.
- Ability to make complicated concepts easy to understand.
- Experience as a technical writer role in an agile software development environment.
- Experience in writing API documentation.
- Experience with Jira and Confluence.
- Experience in image capture tools and PowerPoint to convey concepts when needed.
- Ownership and “can do” attitude with the passion to meet aggressive deadlines.
- Experience in IT security technologies and also iOS and Android mobile operating systems and technologies is highly desirable.
- Experience in Oxygen XML Editor is a plus.
- Experience in Markdown and Slate HTML documentation is a plus.
