FMS Engineer – Plant Automation
CHEP
• Design, implement, and support AVEVA (Wonderware) System Platform and SQL Server–based Factory Management Systems across CHEP plants worldwide. • Integrate mechanical, electrical, and controls systems to drive operational excellence. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on cutting edge “Plant of the Future” initiatives. • Provide critical support that keeps our operations running seamlessly. • Provides plant support for FMS during the day, off-hours, weekends, and holidays as required. • Develop and configure AVEVA (Wonderware) System Platform, InTouch, and MS SQL Server for plant FMS systems. • Analyze business problems, develop solutions, and implement technical improvements that add value. • Enforce CHEP FMS standards with vendors and ensure rapid system implementations. • Provide ongoing plant support, including troubleshooting and debugging of FMS systems. • Manage global FMS deployments, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. • Lead or participate in remote and on-site support, including off-hours, weekends, and holidays as needed. • Maintain documentation and provide training to internal teams and vendors on FMS systems.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program and 5+ years of related experience in manufacturing or utilities environment
- Minimum 3 years demonstrated project experience developing and implementing AVEVA (Wonderware) System platform 2020 & 2023.
- Experience using SQL Server 2017 & 2022 databases, stored procedures, SQL Reporting Services, and .NET.
- Competent in use of AVEVA/Wonderware system platform troubleshooting tools.
- Experience with being on call and remote support
- Understanding of Rockwell PLCs (Micrologix, Compactlogix, Control Logix).
- Familiar with Inductive automation Ignition 8.1 & 8.3.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are an essential element of this position.
- Must be comfortable working on the plant floor in a hands-on start-up environment with challenging schedules.
- Ability to apply project management and time management skills to consistently meet project timelines with aggressive schedules.
- Excellent problem analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work successfully and autonomously in a fast paced, results oriented environment.
- Knowledge and operation of server and PC hardware and associated operating system software, specifically Windows Server 2019 & 2025.
- Knowledge of basic production manufacturing metrics such as Process Reliability.
