EMEA Capex Delivery Manager
DS Smith
• Lead Group Capex project delivery support across EMEA packaging sub-regions • Oversee a portfolio of medium to complex capital projects (circa £200m total value) • Ensure projects are delivered in line with agreed timelines, budgets, and business objectives • Identify delivery risks early and work with project teams to mitigate them • Provide engineering and technical assurance across the full project lifecycle • Ensure projects meet Group Capex governance standards and gateway requirements • Lead and support Project Engineering Gate Reviews • Drive consistency in planning, cost control, and performance tracking across the portfolio • Act as a key interface between regional project teams, business unit leaders, and EMEA senior leadership • Build strong relationships across engineering, operations, and finance teams • Provide assurance to senior leadership on project viability and delivery confidence • Enhance the effectiveness and consistency of capital project execution across the region
Job Requirements
- Experience in capital project environments
- Professional qualification desirable (e.g., MAPM, Chartered Engineer or equivalent)
- Strong background in engineering and project delivery (manufacturing or industrial setting preferred)
- Proven experience overseeing multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience working with large-scale capital programmes
- Exposure to governance frameworks, stage-gate processes, and project assurance
- Strong understanding of project and programme delivery principles
- Ability to assess project health across scope, cost, schedule, and risk
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across multiple levels
- Commercial awareness with the ability to balance cost, risk, and value
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Willingness to travel across Europe as required
