Senior Integrations and APIs Architect
Starian
• Architect and govern the design of APIs and integrations, defining contracts (OpenAPI Spec), versioning standards, and REST, webhook and event-driven flows across teams. • Define the organization’s API Gateway strategy, evaluating and operating solutions such as KrakenD and Kong based on trade-offs in performance, security, and cost. • Establish the security model for integrations, designing authentication and authorization policies using OAuth2, OIDC, JWT and mTLS under zero-trust principles. • Design event-driven architectures with Kafka and messaging systems, ensuring reliable and traceable flows in both synchronous and asynchronous scenarios. • Ensure resilience and scalability of integrations by applying patterns such as caching, rate limiting and circuit breakers, anticipating availability risks. • Lead technical response to critical integration incidents in distributed environments, performing advanced troubleshooting and documenting lessons learned. • Deploy and evolve the APIs observability strategy, ensuring end-to-end visibility into service performance and behavior.
Job Requirements
- Experience in API design, documentation, versioning and security — including OpenAPI contracts, authentication and authorization (OAuth2, JWT) and system integrations.
- Experience developing systems in languages such as Java, Go or JavaScript, with the ability to gather requirements, investigate incidents and interact with customers or support when needed.
- Digital mindset and technological curiosity, with an active interest in how Artificial Intelligence can transform processes, experiences and outcomes.
- Desirable: Experience with CI/CD, automation and APIOps/GitOps, including pipelines with automated validations, deployment strategies and self-service models for API lifecycle governance.
- Experience with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana and Jaeger.
- Hands-on experience with AI tools (LLMs, copilots) for productivity, code review and documentation, including applying AI to API governance, contract analysis, breaking-change detection and pattern suggestion.
