Stock Accountant

Role Description Our client in the UK is looking for a Stock Controller, they are looking for someone who has dealt with product/stock in the past. The role also requires a lot of reconciliation between systems and investigation of discrepancies and experience from across finance – sales invoices and purchase invoices. - Reconciliation of stock across all locations between warehouse system and ERP (SAP ByDesign) to help drive availability. - Investigation and resolution of stock discrepancies, and implementing process improvements to avoid repeat issues. - Management of all stock deliveries into the ERP. - Monitoring stock valuation and investigating discrepancies. - Managing stock counts and preparing year‑end files for auditors. - Developing and improving stock management processes. - Ownership of specific general ledger accounts in relation to stock. - Experience working within a commercial finance team. - Experience within a stock‑focused business, ideally involving imported goods. - Strong Excel capability. Use and adoption of automation preferred. - Experience using an ERP and/or stock management system. - Analytical, detail‑oriented and confident liaising with operational stakeholders. Qualifications - Experience in stock management and reconciliation. - Strong analytical skills. - Proficient in Excel. - Experience with ERP systems. Requirements - Ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies. - Experience in a commercial finance environment. - Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. What You'll Do: ● Manage end-to-end AP cycle: invoice receipt, coding, approval routing, and payment processing ● Maintain general ledger, reconcile balance sheet accounts (cash, prepaids, accounts payable, others) and prepare journal entries ● Maintain vendor master data and enforce W-9/1099 compliance. ● Assist with audit, tax preparation, and year-end closing. ● Implement and maintain internal controls and accounting policies. What You've Got: ● Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field preferred. ● Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting and bookkeeping. ● Proficiency in accounting software, specifically, NetSuite, Ramp, Airbase, Avalara, SalesForce and others ● Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles. ● Experience with payroll processing and tax filings. ● Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills. ● Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
