Role Description We are looking for an ambitious and tech-savvy Accountant (m/f/d) to join our team. In this critical role, you will be a key driver of our financial integrity and the technical architect of our accounting function. - Ensure the highest quality in our financial data while actively building a scalable, automated accounting ecosystem. - Work closely with our Team Lead Accounting to evolve a cutting-edge global finance function. - Play a central role in ensuring a fast and clean month-end and year-end close. - Act as a high-level technical expert for our accounting processes. - Thrive in a fast-paced environment where your technical expertise has a direct impact on our global scalability. Qualifications - 3+ years of work experience as an Accountant, ideally in a fast-paced company. - In-depth understanding of German tax and accounting standards (HGB). - Knowledge of IFRS or an advanced degree/qualification in accounting is a significant plus. - Experience with modern ERP/Accounting tools is essential. - German skills at C2 level (essential for German HGB/Tax) as well as fluency in English. Requirements - Maintain and optimize the financial ledgers of the Appinio Group, ensuring they are 100% accurate, compliant, and documented to the highest standards. - Work hand-in-hand with the Team Lead Accounting to ensure a fast and clean month-end and year-end close (HGB) for our German entity and support the subsidiaries. - Prepare all necessary documentation and schedules for the annual audits, ensuring a smooth and efficient process by acting as a professional internal expert for the auditors. - Actively drive the implementation and optimization of our tool-stack (specifically Light, DATEV, and Lucanet) to build a truly digital and scalable accounting function. - Act as a technical gatekeeper by reviewing accounting topics, ensuring data robustness, and finding ways to minimize manual work. - Serve as a technical sparring partner for the Team Lead Accounting on accounting, tax, and compliance issues. - Support the technical consolidation and international alignment of our subsidiaries (Spain, UK, US, Colombia). DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Ensure timely and accurate P&L and Balance Sheet accounting in compliance with US GAAP and internal policies, while monitoring regulatory compliance and supporting annual audit and tax filing processes. - Perform month-end close procedures and prepare general ledger reconciliations. - Prepare and record journal entries. - Support the annual audit process, through coordination with external auditors, preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation, and addressing audit inquiries. - Assist department with creating and updating accounting process documentation. - Ensure accuracy and reliability of data to support business decision-making. - Lead or support cross‑functional projects, including systems upgrades and enhancements. - Serve as technical accounting resource for complex transactions and system‑related matters. - Partner with plant personnel and the Packaging Finance team to resolve issues and improve efficiency. - Promote continuous improvement in project management and accounting processes by identifying, designing, and implementing best-practice solutions from other LDI locations. - Other duties, as assigned.
