Lead Systems Engineer

Role Description The Lead Systems Engineer provides leadership, expertise, and delegates work for design document deliverables for building automation system (BAS), electrical power monitoring system (EPMS), and software integration design projects in hyperscale data center and similar mission critical / technology sectors. The Lead Systems Engineer will work with internal and external MEP/FP trade engineers, equipment representatives, product vendors, and BIM / Revit / AutoCAD production resources. This role also will coordinate activities of other personnel and serve as a people manager, communicating and operating in line with organizational goals / values, and departmental objectives. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction or related discipline - Two years of experience with hands-on installation, testing, validation and troubleshooting of controls infrastructure - Minimum eight years of additional experience with BAS and EPMS design - At least half of this experience should be with hyperscale or colocation data center projects Requirements - Skilled in navigating clients through BAS project designs including identification of standards, needs, and option evaluation - Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail - Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) - Skilled in designing BAS and EPMS packages - Knowledge of construction design process, stakeholders, deliverables - Knowledge of code requirements and energy guidelines related to BAS designs - Knowledge of data center HVAC applications and BAS control strategies including chilled water plants - Knowledge of IoT and smart building solutions - Knowledge of Networking including Addressing, VLANs, LANs, Switches and Routers - Knowledge of open-source protocols (BACnet, Modbus and SNMP) - Knowledge of DDC systems used in building automation designs - Knowledge of PLC systems used in building automation designs - Organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously - Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows - Ability to work successfully in a remote environment - Ability to follow company and site safety requirements - Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence - Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form - Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently - Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines - Ability to effectively plan and delegate the work of others - Ability to mentor and train junior engineers Benefits - Choice of comprehensive medical plans (including two PPO-style plans and a HDHP w/ HSA option) - Dental and vision plans - Comprehensive medical, dental and vision benefits extended to spouse / domestic partner and dependent children up to age 26 - 401k with company match and self-directed brokerage account option - PTO including additional paid time off during the last week of the year - Company paid life insurance coverage for employees and their eligible dependents - Short and long-term disability, AD&D coverage - Professional development opportunities, tuition reimbursement and professional licensing assistance - Paid parental leave after one year of employment
