Role Description The Opportunity In this role, you will provide hands-on field service support for power transformers, helping customers install, maintain, and restore critical electrical assets. Your work will include installation and commissioning, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and end-of-life services—often performed on-site in challenging field conditions. You will interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, follow technical manuals, and complete detailed service activities that support equipment reliability and safe operation. Working closely with service colleagues and customers, your day-to-day contributions will help extend transformer life, improve performance, and support the dependable operation of power grid infrastructure. How You’ll Make an Impact: - Perform on-site and remote service activities including installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, retrofits, and replacements - Support customer operations by addressing technical issues and anticipating service needs - Read and work from electrical and mechanical drawings, instructions, and technical manuals - Complete internal transformer work such as bushing connections, lead clearance, tapping, crimping, taping, and contoured joints - Repair, re-gasket, assemble, and disassemble transformer equipment as directed - Operate and maintain vacuum oil processing and oil handling equipment with direction, including completing required logs - Coordinate logistics for service jobs, including tools, resources, and spare parts - Contribute ideas for product and process improvements that enhance operations and customer service - Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines. Role Description The Service Technician–Mechanic travels to customer locations to install, maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and printing issues for Koenig & Bauer printing presses. The Service Technician interacts directly with the customer, listening to their needs and asking probing questions in preparation for the installation or service call. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Perform various mechanical repairs and maintenance on Koenig & Bauer equipment at customer sites including but not limited to: - Gripper settings on impression and transfer delivery bars - Pump and inker issues - Seals, register drives, ink key seals - Plate and blanket clamps - Bladder replacement - Machines crashes with infeed, inker, base unit, or delivery - Perfector issues and cylinder replacement - Perform installation of Koenig & Bauer equipment, 40-inch and up, and sub-supplier equipment such as Baldwin cabinet, Technotrans or AGT cabinet, etc. in accordance with blueprints from time of delivery to commissioning press. - Perform thorough audits on presses, as scheduled, inspecting from the feeder to the delivery and identifying worn or damaged parts with emphasis on safety-related issues. - Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues with thorough research and investigation using available documentation such as service manuals and repair documentation. - Determine and execute an action plan for making necessary repairs including identifying necessary parts and working with the customer and Koenig & Bauer Parts Department. - Deliver world-class customer service with each and every customer interaction. - Fulfill the obligation of the original service call and see the service call through completion. - Complete accurate and timely records including recording parts used and returned, updating open/closed issues spreadsheet, and recording time, expenses, and work performed in MDS. - Adhere to all applicable customer practices and policies while working at their site. - Perform other related job responsibilities as necessary based on business needs. Qualifications - High School Diploma or GED-equivalent required; post-high school degree or certification in a technical field preferred. - Two years minimum of related education and work experience in printing, press manufacturing, industrial/plant maintenance, or other related technical field. - Computer literacy with basic knowledge of e-mail, internet navigation, word processing, spreadsheets, and other business system software. - Experience working with basic hand tools such as wrenches, ratchets, sockets, pliers, hammer, screw drivers. - Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical CAD drawings.
