Role Description The Service Technician–Mechanic travels to customer locations to install, maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and printing issues for Koenig & Bauer printing presses. The Service Technician interacts directly with the customer, listening to their needs and asking probing questions in preparation for the installation or service call. They must effectively communicate technical information and resolutions to customers with varying degrees of technical knowledge and abilities. The Service Technician must come up with a plan of action to address the customer issue with an emphasis on quality work and efficiency to minimize installation or downtime and to control costs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Perform various mechanical repairs and maintenance on Koenig & Bauer equipment at customer sites including but not limited to: - Gripper settings on impression and transfer delivery bars - Pump and inker issues - Seals, register drives, ink key seals - Plate and blanket clamps - Bladder replacement - Machines crashes with infeed, inker, base unit, or delivery - Perfector issues and cylinder replacement - Perform installation of Koenig & Bauer equipment, 40-inch and up, and sub-supplier equipment such as Baldwin cabinet, Technotrans or AGT cabinet, etc. in accordance with blueprints from time of delivery to commissioning press. - Perform thorough audits on presses, as scheduled, inspecting from the feeder to the delivery and identifying worn or damaged parts with emphasis on safety-related issues. - Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues with thorough research and investigation using available documentation such as service manuals and repair documentation. - Determine and execute an action plan for making necessary repairs including identifying necessary parts and working with the customer and Koenig & Bauer Parts Department. - Deliver world-class customer service with each and every customer interaction. - Fulfill the obligation of the original service call and see the service call through completion. - Complete accurate and timely records including recording parts used and returned, updating open/closed issues spreadsheet, and recording time, expenses, and work performed in MDS. - Adhere to all applicable customer practices and policies while working at their site. - Perform other related job responsibilities as necessary based on business needs. Qualifications - High School Diploma or GED-equivalent required; post-high school degree or certification in a technical field preferred. - Two years minimum of related education and work experience in printing, press manufacturing, industrial/plant maintenance, or other related technical field. - Computer literacy with basic knowledge of e-mail, internet navigation, word processing, spreadsheets, and other business system software. - Experience working with basic hand tools such as wrenches, ratchets, sockets, pliers, hammer, screw drivers. - Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical CAD drawings. Requirements - Location: Ontario 100% Remote with nearly 100% business travel domestically and occasional international travel. - Reports to: Senior Director of Service. - Standard Schedule: Monday – Friday; must be able to work weekends, early mornings, and some evenings. - FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly. - Compensation: $27 - $46 per hour.
Role Description The Demonstrator is responsible for the operation, demonstration, and explanation of Koenig & Bauer Sheetfed presses including peripheral equipment. The Demonstrator provides training and instruction on the operation and maintenance of the presses and peripheral equipment to customers and their staff both upon installation of new equipment and on an ongoing basis. The Demonstrator must also be able to troubleshoot and repair machine issues. - Works with the Koenig & Bauer Service installing and commissioning Koenig & Bauer systems and equipment through customer demonstrations including Koenig & Bauer quality control systems, software and hardware, demonstrations, training and application development for Sheetfed printing equipment and additional options. - Has knowledge of and is able to convey competitive advantage of Koenig & Bauer presses and systems including all peripheral equipment. - Looks for opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and create enthusiasm and pride in Koenig & Bauer and its systems and equipment to maximize sales potential. - May demonstrate equipment hardware and software at trade shows. - Documents all training and demonstrations. - Delivers world-class customer service with each and every customer interaction including introducing or greeting the customer upon arrival, listening and asking questions of the customer to understand how you can help, informing customer of your findings as well as recommended action plan including schedule and timeline, and touching base with customer at the end of the job or during critical milestones while on the job. - Completes accurate and timely records including updating open/closed issues spreadsheet, recording time, expenses, and work performed in MDS, and any other required paperwork or records. - Adheres to all applicable customer practices and policies while working at their site including arrival and departure procedures, following safety policies and using necessary personal protective equipment, and adhering to policies regarding smoking and eating in the workplace. - Performs other related job responsibilities as necessary based on business needs. Qualifications - High School Diploma or GED-equivalent required; but post-high school degree or certification in technical field including but not limited to printing preferred. - Minimum seven years of experience operating sheetfed printing equipment. - Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills. - Understanding of printing production and planning. - A thorough understanding of printing processes like Conventional, UV and Waterless. - A good understanding of Printing Industry standards and specifications. - Working knowledge of measuring systems used in printing processes. - Basic understanding of customers’ production environment and industry trends. Role Description The Service Technician–Electrician travels to customer locations to install, maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical and some mechanical components on Koenig & Bauer printing presses including pneumatic circuits as well as various peripheral equipment. - Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical components including pneumatic circuits on Koenig & Bauer presses and peripheral equipment. - Operate various models and sizes of printing presses to diagnose performance issues. - Use the multi-meter and read schematics. - Pull cables and make connections on electrical panels and components using special crimp tools and approved connectors. - Troubleshoot problems via software. - Program parts/modules on site. - Change/adjust parameters in systems like Mentor or frequency converters. - Adjust potentiometers and motors for axes like printing pressure or circumferential register. - Troubleshoot peripheral equipment like Lithec, Baldwin, Technotrans, Harris and Bruno, BDT, etc. - Contact Koenig & Bauer Germany about machine-specific problems and software. - Adjust sensors and switches per setting instructions. - Work on down presses and different style washing equipment. - Open stripped bolts and perform smaller mechanical jobs. - Use a scope to monitor power fluctuations. - Troubleshoot Arcnet and CS31 bus issues. - Troubleshoot safety circuits with all safety relays, stop locks, emergency buttons, safety bars, and gates. - Troubleshoot remote maintenance or install internet-based maintenance. - Install software updates, including control consoles and PLCs. - Troubleshoot software issues. - Troubleshoot complex electrical and pneumatic issues using available documentation. - Determine and execute action plans for necessary repairs. - Deliver world-class customer service with each interaction. - Fulfill the obligation of the original service call and see it through to completion. - Complete accurate and timely records including parts used, time, expenses, and work performed. - Adhere to all applicable customer practices and policies while on-site. - Perform other related job responsibilities as necessary based on business needs. Qualifications - High School Diploma or GED-equivalent required; post-high school degree or certification in a technical field preferred. - Minimum one to two years of related work experience in printing, press manufacturing, industrial/plant maintenance, or other related technical fields. - Computer Skills: Microsoft Windows; programming and networking; extensive use of various proprietary software and programming tools. - Experience working with basic hand tools such as wrenches, ratchets, sockets, pliers, hammer, screwdrivers. - Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical CAD drawings. - Good customer service skills with attentive listening and prompt response. - Good verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical information. - Collaborative team member with strong interpersonal skills. - Valid motor vehicle license. - Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Requirements - Ability and willingness to travel nearly 100% with frequent air travel domestically and some international. - Ability to meet the physical demands of the job including continuous standing, working with hands, and exposure to dust and noise.
