Senior Staff Software Engineer

R1 RCM

• Heavily participate in roadmap definition, working closely with senior product and engineering leaders. • Evaluate and help shape strategic technology direction and choices. • Provide thoughtful recommendations in sessions with scrum team members to structure solution source code and implementation approaches. • Work with product management and business stakeholders to understand software requirements and help estimate epics, features, and stories. • Script and maintain automated build steps, continuous integration systems, and staging environments. • Apply consistent levels of strategic thinking, judgment, decision making, attention to detail, teamwork, organization, innovation, and initiative. • Willingly and enthusiastically mentor junior members of the development team.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a similar field
  • 10+ years of experience in software/data engineering experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a thought leadership role
  • Preferable experience working with clinical data, understanding the full life cycle of claims
  • Advanced knowledge of general engineering concepts, such as design patterns, with a focus on Big Data
  • Advanced understanding of Apache Spark, Python, Scala, and Databricks
  • Relevant experience with Epic, FHIR, and HL7
  • Extensive experience with cloud environments, including Azure, GCP or AWS
  • Web services standards and related technology knowledge (XML, XSD, SOAP, JSON, Rest.)
  • Understanding of modern software development, including version control, unit testing, and continuous integration & deployment
  • Healthcare technology industry experience
  • Agile development experience
  • Strong communication skills, with proven ability to present complex ideas and to document concisely.

As a Fullstack engineer, you'll work alongside other engineers, product designers, operation experts, and clinicians to build physician-facing and patient-facing features in the platform. Our primary tech stack is built with React, GraphQL, Next.js, Ruby/Rails, and PostgreSQL. That being said, we believe in using the right tool for the job. This is a remote-first role; however, to ensure operational alignment, we are specifically seeking candidates currently based in the Eastern time zone within the United States. - Implement, test, and maintain features in physician-facing Web applications. - Work in collaboration with the product designer to create a delightful user experience. - Write secure, HIPAA-compliant software that patients and clinicians can trust. - Mentor junior engineers and contribute to hiring, culture, and best practices. - Contribute to the engineering culture and hiring.
