Director, Engineering SW/HW (Automotive Domain)

Role Description You will manage a SW Leadership team that assembles and leads the software team as the primary customer contact for software function and timing. Sets the team up for success in following processes, managing change, and SW release to customers, factories, and service. Your Team Your team is made up of 5-20 SW Leaders, Config Managers, Defect Managers including management layers where applicable (depending on region and project needs). Your team is in charge of either a region (in case of smaller regions) or for one OEM or multiple OEMs (depending on the overall count of projects). What You Will Do - Responsible for delivering SW for customer programs in high quality, on time, and within cost. - Ensure high levels of collaboration and transparency between the various entities involved with project execution, including but not limited to the CG, SW/HW domain, and Test. - Own and monitor the project metrics and ensure they stay healthy. Risks are identified earlier, and mitigation actions are initiated in a timely and effective manner. - Staff and manage a team of SW Leaders, Config Managers, and Defect Managers focused on the overall SW delivery for all projects in the scope of your area of responsibility. - Oversee the activities within the various programs that they are responsible for and provide their team with the necessary guidance and support required to be successful. - Ensure that the SW Leadership team: - Develops and releases to HARMAN and customer requirements - Develops and executes project SW plan to adhere to process - Releases design to factory / Effective change management - Handles software technical tradeoffs (Cost, performance, DfM, timing) - Work together with Biz-Analysts (from the regional support offices) to identify and prioritize improvement areas in the different projects to optimize engineering costs and use synergies between projects of the same OEM or region. - Responsible for career growth and technical skills enhancements for all SW Leaders in your team. Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. - 15+ years of overall professional experience in development and delivery. - 10+ years of experience in automotive project development. - 5+ years in leading multi-national teams/resources. - Proven expertise in developing complex systems from architecture to implementation. - Proven ability to lead, mentor, and grow diverse teams. Requirements - Master's Degree in Engineering, MBA (Nice to have). - Be willing to travel up to 30% domestic and international travel. - Be willing to work in an office in North America/Europe/APAC, depending on regional responsibilities.
