Project Manager, Nature-based Solutions

• Managing project design, implementation and monitoring that promote improved natural resources management of forests and agricultural lands • Lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary/ multicultural remote team to achieve deliverables for feasibility, implementation and monitoring phases on time and under budget; • Ensure effective coordination, accountability, and high-quality deliverables; • Facilitate collaboration with implementing partners/clients (local NGOs, governments, others) in the design and implementation of projects/programs; • Design theory of change (framework), and Implementation plan jointly with partners (in the ground or remote); • Develop, follow and manage work plans, and budgets; • Develop and follow monitoring procedures and processes to collect the data required to evaluate the operational, social, climate and biodiversity benefits of projects and programs; • Design and facilitate training sessions and develop tools and templates for local partners to monitor project implementation; • Oversee the data collection (social and biodiversity) and provide on time feedback to subcontractors for different Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) Projects and Programs; • Review and analyze field-data (social and biodiversity); • Interpret data to report on impact on monitoring reports for AFOLU projects and Programs in accordance with international recognized GHG measurement standards (Verified Carbon Standard, American Carbon Registry, others); • Lead the engagement process with stakeholders in collaboration with the implementing partners, and government officials; • Manage validation and verification processes for projects/programs.

Job Requirements

  • At least, a Bachelor’s degree in natural resource management, ecology, agronomy, environmental science, development, or another relevant field;
  • 3-5 years of work experience in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of NBS projects around livelihoods and skills development programs, especially for climate vulnerable populations, specifically in developing countries;
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with carbon projects, including an understanding of carbon standards like VCS, CCB, others and the AFOLU Sector;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities under pressure, and attention to detail;
  • Strong project management, communication, and negotiation skills;
  • Excellence in MS Office suite, including formatting in Word and advanced Excel skills, computer-literate with the ability to learn new tools quickly;
  • Excellent written skills in English;
  • Willingness to travel and work in remote areas, at least 25%.

Role Description We are presently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager who will be responsible to maintain overall responsibility for managing project teams delivering annual project revenues of between $500K to $15M. This includes multiple or multi-site enterprise level projects from pre-booking to customer acceptance. Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions) - Carry overall management of Building Automation projects with the following criteria in mind: customer satisfaction, collaborating with the sales team to meet agreed upon profit objectives and meeting or exceeding project completion schedules. - Proactively participate in pre-bid reviews and sales-to-operations turnover meetings, and contribute to the accuracy of the estimate and project layout. - Maintain overall correspondence responsibility for projects. - Maintain overall financial responsibility for projects including: revenue generation and forecasting, costs, billing and overall profitability while pro-actively seeking to 'value engineer' projects to ensure zero or positive deviation from agreed upon objectives. - Prepare and maintain all change orders, request for information and pricing correspondence with client. - Coordinate all field activities for project construction management by developing project plans, schedules, time lines, and costs to complete estimates. - Coordinate with Vendors and Subcontractors to assure competitive cost, best schedule and delivery for all project-related equipment, supply installations and construction services. - Manage Vendors and Subcontractors to ensure quality control and project delivery on time and within budget, while meeting or exceeding customer expectations. - Work within a customer-focused project delivery team to ensure customer and project commitments are met while focusing on key deliverables to customers such as submittals and customer acceptance plans for every project. - Engage with customer to enhance their experience with the Distech Controls Solutions through hands-on instruction in the use of the system tools. - Embrace a continuous improvement spirit to all aspects of participating within a project delivery team. Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or more than 10 years of directly related experience as a Senior Automation Technician or Senior Applications Engineer. - 5+ years of experience in managing and engineering projects within the industry. - 8+ years experience in the Building Automation System industry. - Expertise in the use of Building Automation System tools (Graphics and Programming tools) especially Niagara Framework, LonWorks and BACnet. - Management of Multi-site deliveries. - Computer Literate including Microsoft Office Suite, Smartsheet and other scheduling and planning tools. - Excellent business acumen and an in-depth understanding of the construction and project management process. - Experience in performance contracting and energy management is a plus. - Knowledge in the mechanical, plumbing, power, lighting, lighting controls, and electrical industries. - Knowledge of building, electrical and mechanical codes, standards and regulations. - Knowledge of Contract Management, scope, terms and conditions review. - Ability to travel up to 30% of the time. Requirements - Ability to meet or exceed agreed upon profit objectives. - Ability to develop project plans in advance of project activities to ensure that agreed upon customer satisfaction objectives are met. - Ability to work within a customer focused delivery team and provide the necessary assistance to ensure commitments on key deliverables for customers acceptance. - Ability to maintain current and up-to-date knowledge of all products and services offered. - Broad knowledge of contracting industry and business operation, to ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety laws, standards, practices and codes. - Ability to efficiently and effectively analyze plans, specifications, contract documents and codes to determine project requirements. - Proven ability in successfully working on remote projects. Benefits - The range for this position is $83,000 to $164,000.
