Manager, Corporate Accounting – Compliance

• Build deep ownership over critical GL areas in a complex, high-growth environment • Play a central role in scaling accounting processes following multiple acquisitions • Develop into broader ownership of the month-end close over time • Help shape a more efficient, scalable, and audit-ready accounting function • Own and operate key areas of the general ledger • Lead end-to-end accounting for compensation (payroll and equity), leases, accruals, and consolidation/intercompany • Own the full cycle for your areas, including journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and internal reporting • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial results in accordance with GAAP and company policies • Drive execution of the month-end close and internal reporting • Partner with the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting and Compliance to manage close timelines and ensure deliverables are completed on schedule • Own the coordination and completion of internal reporting and flux analysis across the accounting team • Act as a key operator in the close process, helping drive accountability across stakeholders • Leverage automation and AI to scale accounting processes • Actively identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve efficiency across the close and reporting cycle • Utilize NerdWallet’s internal AI tools and resources to streamline workflows, enhance accuracy, and reduce manual effort • Experiment with and implement scalable solutions, with the support of leadership, to modernize accounting operations • Lead audit and controls execution • Serve as a primary point of contact for auditors for assigned areas and support broader audit coordination (PBCs, walkthroughs, testing) • Maintain and enhance internal controls (SOX) across owned processes and support controls over broader close activities • Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and audit-ready • Support M&A integration and operationalization • Partner with the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting and Compliance on M&A activities, including integration of acquired entities into close processes and systems • Help operationalize new accounting processes, ensuring scalability and alignment with company standards • Lead and develop a team • Manage and mentor 2–3 accountants, providing guidance, review, and professional development • Drive accountability, organization, and execution across your team, especially during close • Partner cross-functionally • Work closely with FP&A on accruals, variance analysis, and budget vs. actual insights • Collaborate with Financial Systems and HRIS teams on payroll, equity, and systems-related initiatives • Partner with Legal and business stakeholders on accruals and other accounting matters
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including:
- External audit experience
- Operational accounting experience in a public company environment
- Prior people management experience (1–2+ years)
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls (SOX)
- Experience with large ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, NetSuite)
- Preferred:
- Experience with Oracle Fusion
- Exposure to M&A integration and accounting operationalization
- Experience leveraging automation and AI tools to improve accounting processes and drive efficiency
- Background in Big 4 or mid-tier public accounting

• Ongoing reconciliation of intercompany transactions • Consolidation of individual financial statements (AEKo, SchuKo and KapKo) • Annual preparation of the HGB-compliant consolidated financial statements • Leading the year-end audit / main contact for the auditor • Preparation of pro-forma consolidated quarterly group financial statements • Project lead for special projects as the CFO’s "right hand" • Interface between accounting (internal & external) and controlling • Overall responsibility for compliance with commercial law requirements and regulations

• Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders on invoice generation, posting, and delivery to client. • Works with Finance team leadership to develop and implement financial policies and procedures. • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to the leadership team. • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards. • Verify, allocating, posting and reconciling receivable accounts. • Prepare reports for audits, use computer programs to monitor transactions, and make suggestions for changing accounts based on anticipated revenue. • Collaborates on financial audits and coordinates with external auditors. • Analyze client contracts to identify payment terms, schedules, and collection amounts. • Respond to internal/external questions related to AR/billing and requests in a timely manner.
