Sr. Development Director
American Heart Association
Role Description We have an excellent opportunity for a Sr. Development Director in our Northern & Central New Jersey market for our Heart Challenge campaigns. This position will report to our Executive Director. The Sr. Development Director will: - Plan, coordinate, staff, and direct the New Jersey market team of the Heart Walk & Cycle Nation initiatives. - Mentor and supervise assigned staff of 2. - Collaborate with corporate and community leaders to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of fundraising efforts. - Work closely with internal and external partners to ensure unified health and revenue efforts for the Heart Challenge campaign. - Serve in a player/coach capacity. This position is a home-office-based position with the expectation of 75% of your time in the field. We offer a base salary with the potential to earn an incentive up to 25% of your base pay, based on achieving certain revenue targets and triggers. Qualifications - Minimum of five (5) years of experience in corporate sales or fundraising, with at least one of those years supervising staff with a revenue goal, preferred. - University/College degree or equivalent experience. - Validated ability to accomplish results through strong volunteer cultivation and management. - Consistent record in exceeding sales/fundraising goals. - Established skill in recruiting, training, directing, and supervising multiple staff in a team environment. - Established proficiency in understanding and navigating workplace cultures to achieve goals. - Demonstrated experience in building powerful partnerships with corporate leaders and senior-level volunteers. - Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and social skills, including large and small group presentations. - Ability to apply good judgment in decision-making. - Demonstrate the ability to effectively solve problems. - Must be willing to work outside normal hours, including early morning, evenings, and weekends as needed. - Ability to do daily local travel up to 75%; requires access to reliable transportation at all times on an immediate basis. Requirements - Engage, recruit, and mobilize CEOs, corporate leaders, attorneys, and community leaders to serve on Heart Walk volunteer leadership committees. - Lead existing and new sponsorships and relationships to achieve campaign goals. - Lead all aspects of coordinated planning processes for the Heart Walk health and revenue efforts. - Research, identify, and acquire companies to have Walk teams. - Connect with, enlist, and activate individuals to serve as conduits (team captains) to recruit walkers/runners. - Develop and lead/monitor Heart Walk budget within the span of control and internal business operations. - Prepare plans, documents, and communications for GAP meetings and revenue projection updates. - Supervise event logistics, including event promotions, entertainment, and live and silent auctions. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement market strategies and build blended sponsorships.
