The bigger picture  We’re looking for two strategic, emotionally intelligent communications professionals to join us as our Senior Communications Advisor or Communications Advisor - External. There are two opportunities available; one permanent, and one temporary for up to 15 months. As a Senior Communications Advisor - External you will help shape how we show up with members, stakeholders, media, and the public. If you’re a strategic communicator who can translate complex topics into clear, audience-first stories—and you thrive in fast-moving environments—this is an opportunity to help protect and strengthen a trusted Saskatchewan brand. This role is based at our Head Office in Regina, however remote options, from within Saskatchewan, will be considered. In this role, you’ll plan and deliver external communication strategies that reinforce Conexus’ reputation as a trusted and influential voice. You’ll turn enterprise strategy into timely, compelling communications that build confidence, deepen member trust, and clearly explain how our decisions create value and enhance the member experience. How you’ll be spending your time  - Lead external communication plans aligned to organizational priorities, operational initiatives, and change efforts. - Translate complex strategy, policy, operational, or regulatory topics into clear, accessible, member-focused communications. - Create high-quality content across channels (web, digital, member communications, social, and stakeholder materials) aligned to Conexus’ brand and tone. - Identify and shape stories that demonstrate organizational progress, community impact, and member value—working closely with partners across Strategy, Governance, Marketing, Growth, and Member Experience. - Support proactive reputation management through media and public relations activities, transparent stakeholder communication, and contribution to governance communications (e.g., annual report and member meetings). - Provide backup support for media relations: draft press releases, statements, Q&As, and briefing materials; support interview preparation; track coverage and escalate emerging issues. - Plan and deliver external change communications that help members understand what’s changing, why it matters, and how to navigate transitions (e.g., integrations, service changes). - Contribute to crisis and business-impact communications by supporting clear, timely updates during disruptions and monitoring external feedback to identify gaps or risks. - Prepare materials that support government, regulatory, and stakeholder engagement (briefings, summaries, messaging, and reporting support). The experience you bring  - 7+ years of progressive communications experience, with strength in external communications, stakeholder communications, media relations, and change communications. - Post-secondary degree in Communications, Public/Media Relations, Journalism, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). - Proven ability to build and execute communication strategies that enhance brand and protect reputation. - Excellent writing and editing skills, with strong judgment on message clarity, tone, and audience needs. - Confidence working with leaders and subject matter experts to shape messages, prepare speaking notes, and support spokesperson readiness. - Comfort using metrics, feedback, and insights to evaluate communication effectiveness and improve outcomes. - Strong collaboration, prioritization, and problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments. - Assets: Prosci Change Management accreditation/experience; familiarity with credit union/financial services regulatory environments; governance and public disclosure communications experience. Salary range The Senior level of the Communications Advisor role is determined by factors such as depth and years of experience, education, and accreditation.
