Director of Communications

Cato Networks

Welcome to the future of cloud networking and security! Cato Networks is the first company to converge enterprise networking and security into one centralized and global service that is delivered by cloud. It is led by networking and security pioneer Shlomo Kramer (Check Point, Imperva) and early investor (Palo Alto Networks, Exabeam, Trusteer and more). Cato’s unique technology inspired a brand-new product category, later named “SASE” by Gartner and a market expected to reach $28.5 billion by 2028. This is your opportunity to get on the rocket ship and join a company that is building a cutting-edge enterprise network and secure cloud platform, and is on a fast track to becoming the worldwide market leader – don’t miss it! About the Role: Are you a strategic communications leader with a deep understanding of the cybersecurity and technology media landscape? Do you bring a strong track record of building meaningful media relationships and driving impactful storytelling in a fast-evolving industry? As our Director of Communications, you will play a key role in shaping and communicating the company’s story across earned and owned media. Reporting to the VP of Communications, you will lead the development and execution of integrated communications strategies that enhance brand reputation, elevate thought leadership, and position the company as a trusted voice in cybersecurity. This is a remote role and can be located anywhere in the US. Responsibilities: - Strengthen the company’s reputation among key stakeholders through compelling storytelling across cybersecurity innovation, threat intelligence, executive leadership, and market trends. - Partner with the VP of Communications to develop and execute a comprehensive annual communications strategy aligned with corporate and go-to-market priorities. - Craft and deliver clear, differentiated narratives that articulate the company’s vision, strategy, and value in the cybersecurity landscape. - Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, analysts, and influencers across cybersecurity, technology, and business media. - Drive a global communications calendar that integrates product news, threat research, and thought leadership. - Partner cross-functionally with security research, product, and executive teams to amplify insights on emerging threats, industry trends, and best practices. - Collaborate with marketing, social media, and content teams to ensure consistent and coordinated storytelling across earned, owned, and social channels. - Lead efforts to secure industry recognition, awards, and rankings across cybersecurity and technology sectors. - Monitor, measure, and analyze media coverage and campaign performance; provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement. - Track cybersecurity trends, threat landscape developments, and competitor activity, delivering actionable insights to internal stakeholders and leadership. - Oversee the development of briefing materials, messaging, and executive communications for media engagements, including crisis and incident communications as needed. - Act as an internal advocate for communications, educating stakeholders on its value and aligning on goals, priorities, and success metrics. Qualifications: - 10+ years of experience in communications, ideally within an agency and/or public company environment, with a focus on cybersecurity technology. - Strong media relationships and a proven ability to secure coverage in top-tier cybersecurity, technology, and business outlets. - Experience partnering with senior leadership and collaborating across cross-functional teams, including security, product, and marketing. - Deep understanding of cybersecurity concepts, trends, and the threat landscape; ability to translate complex technical topics into clear, compelling messaging. - Experience supporting or promoting threat research, security insights, or incident-related communications is a strong plus. - Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with a strong storytelling mindset. - Strong project management and organizational skills with high attention to detail. - Creative, curious, and proactive, with a growth-oriented and global mindset. - Comfortable working across regions, time zones, and cultures. - Self-starter with the ability to both lead initiatives and collaborate effectively within a team environment. - Strong work ethic with a positive and collaborative approach. A reasonable estimate of compensation for this role, at the time of posting, is $150,000 - $200,000. Cato operates from a high place of trust and transparency; we are happy to state the pay range for our open roles to best align with your needs. Exact compensation may vary based on skill set, experience, location, training, and certifications. If your requirements fall outside of this range, you are still welcome to apply.
