Embedded Linux Software Engineer

Jabil

• Develop, configure, and maintain embedded Linux-based systems • Configure and modify Linux kernel components, including device trees and subsystem configurations • Work with kernel drivers, especially ALSA, ensuring compatibility and performance across hardware platforms • Implement and troubleshoot PCIe communication between system components • Support board bring-up and system integration on platforms such as ZynQ MPSoCs and NVIDIA Tegra • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and Android teams to ensure seamless platform behavior • Debug system-level issues related to kernel, bootloaders, or hardware interfaces

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong background in Linux-based embedded systems
  • Solid understanding of kernel-level components
  • Hands-on experience with modern SoCs and board bring-up
  • Strong knowledge of embedded Linux-based systems
  • Experience working with Yocto Linux (custom builds, layers, recipes)
  • Strong hands-on experience with Linux kernel configuration (device trees, kernel config, patches)
  • Good familiarity with Linux kernel device drivers, especially ALSA audio
  • Experience with PCIe bus programming
  • Knowledge of AMD ZynQ MPSoCs, Petalinux, and NVIDIA Tegra SoCs is a significant plus
  • Knowledge or experience with embedded Android is a strong plus.

The focus of your experience must be in the power delivery industry and be associated with electrical engineering with respect to the physical design of utility scale substation development. The responsibilities for the position include, but may not be limited to: - Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team. - Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for substation scopes. - Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others. - Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables. - Develops estimates of technical efforts for projects. - Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings - Prepares technical specification sections. - Provides input for the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements. - Responsible for assisting with identification of key client interests and drivers and may determine the key clients in some instances. - Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work. - Remove any impediments that are obstructing the engineering team from achieving its goals. - Works to advise Management about how to maximize ROI for the team. - Attending all client technical review meetings.
