Apptio Architect – Technology Business Management (TBM) CVS Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technology Business Management (TBM) Architect to join our dynamic IT team. As a TBM Architect, you will be responsible for designing and implementing TBM frameworks, Application TCO methodologies, and processes to optimize technology investments, drive financial transparency, and align IT with business goals. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, IT, and business stakeholders, to develop and maintain an effective TBM strategy that enables informed decision-making and maximizes the value delivered by technology investments. You will play a critical role in shaping the CVS Health TBM strategy, driving financial transparency, and optimizing the value delivered by technology investments. This role will report directly to the Lead Director, Architecture – Apptio and collaborate closely with IT leaders, Finance, Accounting, and data engineering teams. Responsibilities Architecture, Modeling & Platform Ownership - Design, build, and maintain the Technology Business Management (TBM) model within Apptio across Cost Pools, Towers, Services, and Modules. - Develop and optimize allocation rules, cost models, and reporting structures to support transparency and insights into IT cost and consumption. - Partner with the Lead Director to execute the Apptio strategic roadmap and deliver platform enhancements aligned with TBM maturity goals. - Configure, test, and deploy new features, integrations, and automation opportunities across Apptio modules (Cost Transparency, IT Planning, Cloudability, etc.). - Support data connectivity through APIs and Apptio-integrated tools; develop integrations and modeling across large and complex datasets. Operational Excellence & Production Support - Execute monthly operational processes in Apptio, including data loads, model refreshes, troubleshooting, and validation routines. - Maintain reference data, mapping structures, and allocation logic; investigate and resolve data integrity issues. - Support the monthly forecast cycle, annual planning cycle, and dashboard reporting in partnership with Finance and IT Business Management. - Contribute to the governance of Apptio change management, including documenting requirements, test plans, release notes, and user training materials. Analysis & Reporting - Build and maintain Apptio reports, dashboards, and analytics for IT, Finance, and leadership consumers. - Provide insights into cost drivers, consumption patterns, variances, and optimization opportunities. - Translate business requirements into technical configurations and Apptio model changes. Continuous Improvement & Innovation - Identify opportunities to streamline Technology’s financial management processes through automation, modeling best practices, and integration enhancements. - Leverage AI and data engineering techniques to innovate and improve TBM processes. - Support enterprise efforts to expand Apptio adoption and mature TBM practices across technology domains. Required Qualifications - 5+ years of experience working with Apptio as a system administrator, modeler, or TBM technical specialist. - 10+ years of experience in Technology Business Management, IT finance, financial analysis, or related roles. - Deep understanding of Apptio Cost Transparency, TBM Studio, and Cloudability. - Strong knowledge of the TBM Taxonomy and IT financial management concepts (cost allocations, budgeting, forecasting, chargebacks, Opex/Capex, unit cost modeling). - Experience working with data integrations, APIs, large datasets, and technical troubleshooting. - Strong analytical, data-driven, and detail-oriented mindset. - Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and Apptio configurations. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; comfortable working with IT, Finance, and operational teams. - Experience supporting planning and forecasting processes in Apptio Planning or similar FP&A tools. Preferred Qualifications - Experience in Technology Finance, FP&A, or IT Business Management. - Familiarity with cloud platform cost modeling (public and private cloud). - Experience with AI-driven analytics or automation tools. Education Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, Finance, Computer Science, or related field. Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is: $106,605.00 - $260,590.00 This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
