Principal Engineer
Vaultes
• Lead the design and evolution of a scalable federal healthcare benefits platform, setting technical direction and ensuring alignment across front-end, back-end, and integration layers. • Work closely with the Product Manager and government stakeholders to guide the program's vision and technical implementation. • Provide architectural guidance and hands-on support for solutions built with Ruby on Rails, React, and backend API integrations, ensuring performance, security, and scalability. • Oversee the design and implementation of RESTful APIs and system integrations, including third-party services and federal data systems. • Collaborate with product owners, UX designers, engineers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions, driving delivery across iterative development cycles. • Establish and enforce best practices for code quality, testing, documentation, accessibility, and compliance with federal standards. • Mentor and develop engineering team members through code reviews, technical coaching, and day-to-day leadership. • In collaboration with the Product Manager, guide the team in backlog refinement, sprint planning, and technical execution, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of new features and enhancements. • Oversee deployment, troubleshooting, and ongoing system maintenance, ensuring reliability and responsiveness to user needs. • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen
- Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience
- 6+ years of software development experience with demonstrated progression into technical leadership
- Strong hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails and React, including building and maintaining scalable web applications
- Ability to thrive in a remote, collaborative agile environment
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and drive alignment across product, design, and engineering teams
- Experience with mentoring, guiding, and developing more junior team members

What you'll be doing - Analyze and map the complete sales workflow from lead generation to deal closure, identifying automation opportunities to accelerate pipeline velocity and improve conversion rates. - Design and build intelligent n8n workflows that automate lead scoring, enrichment, routing, follow-up sequences, and sales activity tracking across the entire sales funnel. - Deploy AI-powered tools using Exa for prospect research and market intelligence, Pinecone for semantic matching of leads to ideal customer profiles, and Hex for sales performance analytics. - Build custom Python and JavaScript solutions for CRM data enrichment, automated sales reporting, deal health scoring, and predictive pipeline analysis. - Collaborate with Sales and Revenue teams to understand the customer journey, pain points in the sales process, and opportunities to leverage automation for revenue growth. - Design data structures for sales territories, account hierarchies, opportunity stages, and activity tracking to enable comprehensive sales analytics and forecasting. - Create AI-driven solutions for lead qualification, automated outreach personalization, meeting scheduling optimization, and intelligent deal recommendations. - Integrate sales tools (CRM, email sequencing, LinkedIn automation, calendaring, proposal tools) to eliminate manual data entry and create seamless information flow. - Monitor automation performance metrics such as response rates, conversion rates, and sales cycle length, continuously optimizing workflows for maximum impact. Who we are looking for - A technically skilled engineer with 2–4+ years of experience in sales operations, marketing automation, data engineering, or revenue analytics with strong programming abilities. - Proficient in Python and JavaScript with experience building automation tools, data pipelines, and analytical dashboards. - Solid experience with workflow automation platforms, particularly n8n, or comparable tools used in sales and marketing automation. - Practical knowledge of AI/ML tools including Exa, Pinecone, Hex, or similar platforms for intelligent data processing and analysis. - Strong grasp of API integrations, webhooks, and data synchronization across sales technology stacks. - Experience working with CRM platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive) and sales engagement tools (Outreach, Salesloft, Apollo) is highly desirable. - Capable of designing data models for complex sales processes, including multi-touch attribution, sales forecasting, and revenue analytics. - Analytical mindset with experience in funnel analysis, cohort analysis, and defining metrics that drive sales performance. - Strong communicator who can bridge technical and business conversations, translating sales requirements into technical specifications. - Self-motivated individual who can prioritize multiple automation initiatives and deliver results in a dynamic, goal-oriented environment. - 20% sales domain knowledge (understanding B2B sales cycles, lead qualification frameworks, revenue operations) paired with 80% engineering expertise. - Enthusiastic about using AI to transform sales efficiency and effectiveness, ideally with experience in fintech or high-growth SaaS environments.
