Job Description
Senior Fire Protection Engineer
AECOM
• Design active fire protection systems, including automatic sprinklers, standpipes, fire pumps, and fire alarm/mass notification systems. • Prepare construction drawings, specifications, narratives, and Basis of Design (BOD) documents using AECOM templates and standards. • Develop hydraulic calculations in accordance with NFPA standards, UFC 3-600-01, and project-specific criteria. • Support the design of special hazard systems (e.g., clean agent, water mist, foam, explosion control) as applicable. • Conduct code reviews in accordance with the IBC, IFC, NFPA (13, 14, 20, 72, 2001, etc.), and UFC standards. • Participate in multi-discipline coordination meetings and collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural teams. • Review contractor submittals and RFIs, and provide construction-phase support, including field inspections and acceptance testing observation.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- U.S. citizenship due to the nature of the work
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience with Revit and AutoCAD
- Familiarity with NFPA standards and the International Building and Fire Codes
- Experience designing sprinkler and/or fire alarm systems
