The Senior Energy Engineer is responsible for leading complex technical projects and contributing to the strategic development and execution of distributed energy resource (DER) programs. This role requires advanced engineering expertise, strong analytical capabilities, and demonstrated experience in project management and client engagement. What you will be doing: - Lead the analysis and resolution of complex engineering challenges using advanced technical judgment and data-driven methodologies. - Apply 5–8 years of professional experience in energy engineering, including a minimum of 3 years working directly with DER technologies such as variable frequency drives (VFDs), lighting systems, building controls, demand response (DR), and photovoltaic (PV) systems. - Conduct large-scale data analysis, measurement and verification (M&V) planning and execution, and whole-building energy modeling using industry-standard tools such as EnergyPro, eQuest, and EnergyPlus. - Ensure all technical work complies with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. - Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders at both regional and national levels, contributing to technical working groups and presenting findings in professional settings. - Manage technical aspects of project planning and execution, including scope definition, budget development, and timeline tracking. - Identify and pursue new business opportunities in coordination with clients and internal business development teams. - Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and interns, fostering professional growth and knowledge transfer. What we need you to have (minimum qualifications): - Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field. - 5+ years of relevant experience in energy engineering or a closely related discipline. - Demonstrated experience with DER program models, including new construction, industrial processes, and electrification. - Demonstrated knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and accepted engineering practices. - Must have a valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR). What we would like you to have: - Master’s degree (MS) in Engineering or a related field. - Professional certifications such as PE (Professional Engineer), CEM (Certified Energy Manager), or PMP (Project Management Professional). - Recognized subject matter expertise in energy engineering, with a history of innovation and creative problem-solving. - Experience in cost estimation, proposal development, and understanding of financial principles related to project profitability. - Receptiveness to feedback and commitment to continuous improvement. - Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and contribute to overall team success. - Experience in client-facing roles and stakeholder engagement.
