O-I is a company that is committed to fostering an inclusive environment and offers opportunity for growth and advancement Job Description As a Customer Quality Engineer for O-I you will investigate quality related issues with the customer, sales, and manufacturing plants to resolve problems in the most efficient manner, keeping the interest of the company and the customer in mind. The Customer Quality Engineer will: - Attend all quality product claims of our customers according to the established procedure. - Provide a pro-active service in order to anticipate customer needs. - Assist and give technical support in test runs, first runs in plants and with the customer on filling lines. - Providing a pro-active service to link the external customer and the manufacturing plant in order to interchange experiences and share relevant information as needed. - Detect areas of opportunity to improve the glass container functionality on the customer’s line and at the manufacturing plants as well. - Monitor re-select/repack crews and oversee their work when necessary. - Enter and maintain information up to date in SAP. - Develop activities assigned by immediate supervisor in order to comply with the directives of the Quality Committee. - Provide information in coordination with the sales team to allow good communication between the customer and the other areas of the organization. - Comply with the ISO 9001 standard. - Observe competitors’ bottles, cartons, and palletizing for ideas to improve our packaging. The Customer Quality Engineer should have: - Knowledge in quality specifications for glass containers, sampling methods, and filling process. - Skills with laboratory instruments used for physical tests of glass containers. - The ability to audit inventories and monitor quality held inventory. - Experience maintaining an exceptional service with internal and external customers. - Diagnostic skills in field performance problems. - Good and positive attitude with a customer service mentality, while defending the company’s best interest and the customer’s legitimate requirements. Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Required - 3+ years’ experience in a glass manufacturing highly preferred - Willingness and availability to travel - Good public relations / customer service skills. - Bilingual Spanish/English preferred Travel Requirements: - Significant travel required - overnight travel to customer sites, plants around the USA, Canada and Mexico and/or outside offices. - Weekend and/or evening work may be required. - All training will take place in either Plano, TX or Vacaville, CA area Additional Information What O-I Offers: Salary Range: The expected salary range for this position is between $115,000 - $145,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based upon candidate experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. KBR is seeking a Senior Optical Engineer to support exploration missions with optical engineering expertise for spaceflight instrumentation, including lunar environments. The contractor will work closely with NASA and/or third-party partners to provide design, analysis, and technical guidance for advanced optical instruments. The Sr. Optical Engineer will be responsible for: - Evaluate and review mature optical designs for laser altimeters and hazard detection lidar systems, providing feedback on performance, tolerancing, materials selection, and manufacturability. - Assist with requirements development, optical design trade studies, and baseline design development. - Lead and perform structural, thermal, and optical performance (STOP) analyses and produce associated deliverables. - Provide guidance on optical materials selection for spaceflight instruments, considering expected environments. - Collaborate with subject matter experts in areas such as fiber optics, materials, and reliability analysis. - Engage technical working groups (e.g., Stray Light, Optical Design, Optical Bonding) for reviews and consulting. - Lead and attend project meetings to discuss methods, results, schedule, requirements, plans, and team coordination. - Prepare documentation, presentations, and reports as required. - Work with other engineers, technicians, manufacturing, and quality engineers in a team environment. Required Qualification: - Demonstrated experience in optical design of spaceflight instruments and lidar systems. - Expertise in optical analysis, tolerancing, and STOP analysis. - Knowledge of optical materials selection for spaceflight environments. - Proven ability to lead optical design, trade studies, STOP analysis, and related technical activities. - Strong documentation, presentation, and reporting skills. - Experience collaborating in multi-disciplinary teams.. - Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and energetic environment. Preferred Skills - Experience with lunar or other space exploration instruments. - History of working with spacecraft at NASA Goddard Space Flight center, or another NASA center. - Deep understanding of GSFC/NASA flight hardware standards and cleanroom protocols.
