Job Description
Performance Engineer
esVolta, LP
• Own the operational performance engineering and reporting for esVolta’s deployed BESS, focusing on system performance improvement. • Evaluate asset performance against contractual commitments during execution and operation phases, and create baseline reports. • Support the development of technical performance contract language for EPC agreements. • Develop software to generate actionable insights from performance data using data mining and statistical analysis techniques. • Conduct computationally efficient exploratory data analysis, anomaly detection, and projection methodologies. • Develop systems to automatically detect performance degradations and correlate them to specific causes and improvements. • Create systems for automatic reporting of Energy Storage health and deploy interventions based on management by exception criteria. • Collaborate with Operations Engineering to identify and resolve technical issues, working closely with the Asset Management Team and equipment suppliers to address system deficiencies or malfunctions. • Consolidate energy production and financial model inputs and analysis to support performance-related aspects of power purchase agreements, EPC contracts, interconnection agreements, and equipment warranties. • Validate performance against base case financial assumptions. • Review technical documents and acceptance test results, comparing them to contractual standards.
Job Requirements
- 3 years of experience in energy storage.
- ABET accredited bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in Engineering and/or data science.
- Professional Engineering status preferred.
- Highly proficient in software engineering with experience in Python, SQL, data visualization, and artificial intelligence.
- Experience working with Cloud computing services and databases.
- Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis and data mining techniques such as; regression, multilevel regression, forecasting, decision trees, etc.
- Familiarity with SCADA, communication protocols, and controls.
- Proficient at breaking down goals into tangible and actionable work plans.
- Superior communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- Willingness to be remotely based and ability to travel to project sites as required.
