Associate Planning Engineer
Leidos
• Provide transmission planning consulting services as an entry-level engineer • Work under the supervision of senior staff on projects for Municipal Utilities, Investor-Owned Utilities, and Regional Planning organizations (ISOs/RTOs) • Solve simple, routine technical problems following established procedures and policies • Apply basic principles, theories, and concepts of electrical engineering to support transmission system planning and power system analysis • Utilize and develop proficiency in industry-standard analytical tools such as ETAP, SKM, CYME, Synergi, WindMil, PSS/E, PSLF, PowerGEM TARA, or ASPEN • Assist in the technical writing of project findings and contribute to the preparation of basic analysis for project reports • Communicate with peers to explain facts, basic analysis, and engineering processes related to your work area • Learn to apply NERC reliability standards FERC regulatory policies, or IEEE standards to real-world infrastructure projects
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
- Less than 1 year of prior relevant experience
- Basic knowledge of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of the electrical engineering domain (e.g., load flow, short circuit, and basic circuitry)
- Ability to solve routine technical problems in a team environment
- Demonstrates solid oral and written communication skills for peer-to-peer collaboration
- Willingness to travel to project and/or client sites as required for data collection or team meetings
