Build the core experiences used by both bank administrators and bank customers by delivering streamlined, high quality product workflows and the technical systems behind them. This role focuses on designing and implementing user facing flows, building robust and scalable APIs, and integrating with third party services such as Plaid or SendGrid to support critical banking functionality. You will contribute production grade code with strong documentation and testing, bringing a systems thinking mindset to feature development and prioritizing reliability through thoughtful error handling, logging, and edge case coverage. You will help translate complex product requirements into elegant, maintainable solutions, and actively shape architecture through strong technical judgment, clear communication, and well reasoned decision making. This role also includes mentoring and enabling the team through technical guidance, thoughtful code reviews, and continuous improvement that raises the overall engineering bar. Key Responsibilities & Duties: - Align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams while constantly setting and communicating team priorities that support the broader organization's goals - Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role and aligned to the broader organization's goals - Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development and provide feedback and coaching - Develop the mid-term technical vision and roadmap within the scope of your team(s) - Evolve the technical roadmap to meet anticipated future requirements and infrastructure needs - Design, guide and vet systems designs within the scope of the broader area, and write product or system development code to solve ambiguous problems - Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency) - Constantly review infrastructure metrics, SLA’s, quality metrics to ensure the right technical investments in the platform and its capabilities to meet current and future goals while optimizing costs - Work with Product Management to collaborate through creative brainstorming sessions and assist in writing requirements for technical debt Qualifications: - 2 years of experience in a technology leadership role, with a proven track record of building and leading a high-performing team - Minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering with hands-on coding - Strong background in object oriented programming such as React.js, TypeScript, Node.js, Python. - Strong experience building Systems and API development. - Strong experience working with eventing technologies such as Kafka. - Strong experience with Databases such as Postgres. - passion to high-performance and high-throughput design - Demonstrated improved growth and leadership of successful teams over time - Successful in managing multiple concurrent work streams The salary range for this position is: $168,000-$210,000 Cool Things to Know Not Just Any Company: Alkami has an awesome diverse and inclusive environment. • Set direction for AI-assisted development, end-to-end: Define the engineering-wide approach for safe, effective AI-assisted workflows (tooling standards, rollout strategy, and adoption). • Build frictionless paved paths: Identify and remove sources of friction in developer workflows; deliver a small set of deeply reliable, well-supported paved roads rather than many bespoke bypasses. • Internal AI platform strategy (build vs. buy): Own strategy and execution for internal agent runtimes and developer-facing AI systems (authoring, review, and automation workflows), including vendor evaluation and integrations. • Governance, cost, and measurement: Drive governance and cost management for AI tooling (usage measurement, guardrails, optimization) using clear metrics and frameworks (e.g., DORA/SPACE) to translate improvements into business outcomes.

• Lead and develop a team of engineers working across borrower-facing flows, backend services, and platform capabilities that increase eligibility and reduce friction. • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define roadmaps, shape requirements, and deliver solutions that balance growth, customer experience, and risk. • Drive execution on cross-functional initiatives that expand access to auto-secured lending and enable new product capabilities. • Improve the speed, quality, and reliability of delivery by setting clear priorities, raising engineering standards, and building healthy execution mechanisms. • Use data to identify funnel bottlenecks, evaluate tradeoffs, and guide investments that improve conversion, automation, and operational efficiency. • Coach engineers and technical leaders, grow team capability over time, and build an inclusive team culture grounded in ownership and continuous improvement.
