• Own the end-to-end funding delivery process for Upstart's auto lending products, ensuring funded loans are delivered accurately and on time to lending partners and investors. • Build and scale funding delivery processes, controls, and operational reporting that improve funding success rates, reduce exceptions, and support regulatory readiness as the business grows. • Investigate funding exceptions, delivery failures, and reconciliation issues by conducting root cause analysis and partnering across teams to implement sustainable solutions. • Establish and maintain quality standards for loan files, ensuring documentation and data consistently meet lending partner, investor, and regulatory requirements for saleability and downstream servicing. • Partner closely with Product, Operations, Capital Markets, Servicing, Compliance, Engineering, and external stakeholders to design scalable funding workflows and drive continuous process improvements. • Develop metrics, dashboards, and performance reporting to provide visibility into funding health, identify operational risks, and inform business decisions while leveraging AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve documentation, reporting, and exception analysis.

• Design, build, and operate highly available backend services that power Upstart's real-time lending marketplace. • Develop scalable systems that enable rapid experimentation while maintaining the reliability of business-critical production services. • Partner with Product, Machine Learning, Capital Markets, and Analytics to translate complex business problems into elegant technical solutions. • Build flexible platform capabilities that enable new marketplace optimization and monetization strategies. • Improve the scalability, observability, and operational excellence of systems responsible for real-time marketplace decisions. • Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, testing, and operational ownership of critical production systems.

• Provide strategic legal counsel to Product, Engineering, Risk, Compliance, and Operations teams to support Upstart's HELOC product and transition from a state-licensed lender to a national bank. • Provide legal counsel and advice on future products, which may include purchase-money mortgages. • Advise on federal and state consumer lending laws, mortgage regulations, and regulatory developments that impact home lending products and services. • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to design compliant product features, customer experiences, operational processes, and servicing capabilities. • Lead legal support for new product initiatives, regulatory change management, and market expansion efforts related to home lending. • Collaborate across the Product & Regulatory Legal team and with other legal teams, including lawyers supporting Privacy, Fair Lending, Capital Markets and Commercial contracts, as needed. • Develop practical legal frameworks, policies, and guidance that enable business growth while appropriately managing legal and regulatory risk. • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, bank partners, and outside counsel, on legal matters affecting the HELOC business. • Identify and communicate key legal risks to business partners; ability to distill complex legal matters and risks for senior leadership in a clear and actionable manner, synthesizing complex concepts into concise recommendations.

• Lead end-to-end compliance workstreams supporting Upstart's unsecured line of credit product, including customer disclosures, periodic statements, change-in-terms communications, error resolution requirements, and credit reporting readiness. • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Legal, and Risk teams to interpret regulatory requirements and incorporate compliant, customer-focused solutions into product design and implementation. • Develop and maintain clear, audit-ready documentation, controls, and governance processes that support internal reviews, partner oversight, and regulatory examinations. • Drive cross-functional compliance initiatives from planning through implementation, coordinating stakeholders and ensuring business readiness for product launches and enhancements. • Monitor compliance-related risks, identify opportunities to strengthen processes and controls, and recommend practical solutions that enable the business to scale responsibly. • Foster a culture of ownership and collaboration by sharing compliance expertise, supporting cross-functional decision-making, and helping teams navigate regulatory considerations with confidence.

• Build and maintain borrower-facing web experiences using React and TypeScript, translating designs and product requirements into clean, responsive, accessible interfaces. • Work across the stack to connect frontend experiences to backend services and APIs, contributing to full-stack features that span the borrower journey. • Partner closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to scope, build, and ship features that improve borrower flows and reduce friction. • Write well-tested, maintainable code and participate in code reviews, helping raise the quality and consistency of the team's frontend codebase. • Contribute to performance, reliability, and observability of the experiences you own, and help debug and resolve issues across environments. • Support experimentation and iterative improvements to borrower flows, using data and feedback to inform what gets built next.

• Own the design and delivery of large, complex frontend and full-stack initiatives using React and TypeScript, from planning and sequencing through launch and long-term maintenance. • Set technical direction for the team's frontend architecture and full-stack patterns, owning a 3–6 month roadmap and proactively addressing systemic gaps that threaten team effectiveness. • Partner closely with product, design, and backend engineers to translate roadmap priorities and borrower needs into scalable, high-quality experiences. • Raise the bar for engineering excellence through strong component and API design, thoughtful state management, testing, observability, and operational rigor across borrower-facing surfaces. • Lead through ambiguity, breaking down loosely defined problems into clear, testable plans and using data to inform tradeoffs on scope, performance, and user experience. • Mentor and grow other engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and technical guidance, and serve as a trusted collaborator across the team. • Contribute to how the team uses AI in development workflows and product capabilities, with a pragmatic view of where it can create meaningful leverage.

• Design, build, and operate privacy engineering services that support user control, data governance, anonymization, pseudonymization, retention, deletion, and auditability • Implement privacy-by-design patterns and data minimization controls across Upstart’s products, services, data pipelines, and machine learning systems • Build APIs, libraries, services, and developer tools that help engineering teams standardize privacy enforcement across the technology stack • Partner with Security, Legal, Compliance, Product, Data, Machine Learning, and Infrastructure teams to translate privacy requirements into clear technical specifications • Support privacy reviews, data flow assessments, and technical risk assessments for new products, data uses, and platform capabilities • Improve the reliability, observability, and maintainability of privacy systems through testing, monitoring, documentation, and thoughtful technical design

• Lead the secured lending asset quality and loan salability function across home equity line of credit, auto direct, and auto indirect dealer channels, setting the review methodology, operating cadence, reporting standards, and escalation routines for a small team of asset quality analysts. • Monitor portfolio-level salability risk across secured lending channels — tracking eligibility adherence trends, defect patterns, collateral documentation quality, and exception concentrations; escalate repurchase and put-back risk to Capital Markets and bank partners before they affect loan sale execution or partner commitments. • Monitor asset quality and portfolio performance indicators tied to salability, including early payment defaults, delinquency, loss severity, prepayment, non-performing loan trends, exception patterns, and threshold breaches. • Evaluate origination and channel quality across secured lending programs, including collateral documentation completeness, lien perfection, override trends, pricing consistency, dealer or partner performance, concentration risk, and potential fair lending exposure. • Own first-line model implementation and performance oversight for secured lending models, including production model monitoring, threshold tracking, version control, use-case boundaries, model inventory updates, change impact assessment, and escalation of performance degradation or out-of-bounds behavior. • Translate loan review findings, portfolio trends, and model performance signals into action by identifying root causes, defining remediation plans, tracking issue closure, and escalating risks before they affect loan sale execution, partner commitments, or regulatory readiness.

• Drive execution across strategic Capital Markets initiatives, ensuring workstreams remain coordinated, on track, and aligned across multiple teams. • Own operational governance by improving visibility, accountability, prioritization, and execution across diligence, onboarding, loan sales, investor operations, and new product readiness. • Lead cross-functional programs involving Capital Markets, Product, Engineering, Legal, Operations, Treasury, and Compliance to deliver investor-facing initiatives successfully. • Manage investor-impacting operational escalations, identify risks early, remove blockers, and drive timely resolution. • Design and implement scalable operating mechanisms, processes, and governance frameworks that improve organizational efficiency and reduce execution risk. • Partner with leadership to improve operational readiness for new investors, products, partnerships, and strategic business initiatives. • Identify opportunities for automation, AI adoption, and process improvement to increase organizational leverage and reduce manual work. • Develop reporting, metrics, and operating cadences that improve decision-making and provide greater visibility into organizational health.
