Job Description
Senior Director, Innovation
Crio Inc.
You are a hands-on technology leader who lives at the intersection of AI, product development, and clinical research. You don’t just talk about AI, you use it daily to solve real problems, build workflows, and ship features. You’re energized by helping others level up with these tools, and you measure your success not by how many experiments you launch, but by the business outcomes they deliver. You thrive in cross-functional environments, communicate with clarity and purpose, and bring both strategic thinking and practical execution to everything you do. Responsibilities - Lead and execute CRIO’s AI innovation strategy in close partnership with the Chief Innovation Officer, Product, and Engineering leadership. - Design and implement AI-powered workflows, integrations, and automations that deliver measurable business value. - Serve as a hands-on practitioner: build complex prompts, agentic workflows, and system-to-system AI connections to solve real operational and product challenges. - Train, coach, and level up teammates across the organization on AI tools and best practices, from beginner adoption through advanced use cases. - Define and track success metrics and KPIs for AI initiatives, ensuring clear visibility into impact and ROI. - Collaborate with Product and Engineering to refine requirements, prototype features, and ship AI-enhanced capabilities into CRIO’s platform. - Contribute directly to feature development, writing and reviewing code alongside engineering teams, using AI-assisted development tools. - Analyze data across CRIO’s platform and operations to identify high-value AI opportunities that inform the product roadmap. - Work with reporting and analytics tools to surface insights, build dashboards, and measure the effectiveness of AI-driven initiatives. - Partner with Data, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure CRIO’s data infrastructure supports scalable AI capabilities. - Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend adoption strategies that align with CRIO’s product roadmap and business goals. - Champion responsible AI practices, including human-in-the-loop validation, data governance, and compliance with clinical research regulatory requirements. Leadership Skills - 5+ years of experience leading or heavily influencing cross-functional teams in technology or product organizations. - Demonstrated ability to train and mentor others on AI tools, workflows, and best practices, with measurable adoption outcomes. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences. - Comfort operating at both strategic and tactical levels, from board-level presentations to hands-on implementation. - Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented, with a bias toward action and iteration over perfection. - Natural collaborator who builds trust across Product, Engineering, Data, and Client-facing teams. Technical Skills - Deep personal experience using AI tools (LLMs, coding assistants, automation platforms) for complex, real-world workflows, not just basic prompting. - Experience building connections between AI systems and business tools (APIs, data pipelines, workflow automation). - Comfort working with data warehouses, SQL, and analytics/reporting platforms to explore data, generate insights, and identify AI use cases. - Proven ability to work within product and engineering organizations: refining product requirements, writing or reviewing code, and shipping features to production. - Familiarity with AI-assisted software development tools and practices (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar). - Experience defining and measuring AI adoption metrics and business impact. Nice to Have - Experience in the clinical research industry, with understanding of both pharmaceutical sponsor and research site perspectives. - Familiarity with clinical data standards, regulatory frameworks (21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA, GCP/ICH), or eSource/EDC platforms. - Experience with Ruby on Rails, Python, or modern web application stacks. - Hands-on experience with BigQuery, Looker, or similar cloud data warehouse and BI platforms. - Background in SaaS product companies, particularly in healthcare or life sciences. Location & Travel: This position is fully remote. You can work anywhere in the US with the expectation of being available based on EST time zone. Benefits & Perks: - Work from anywhere - Unlimited PTO - 401k company match - Healthcare - Dental - Vision (Company Paid 100%) - Life insurance - Professional development - Work From Home Expense Reimbursement Equal Employment Opportunity: CRIO is an equal opportunity employer.
