We operate in a security and compliance driven environment where infrastructure stability and operational excellence directly impact client outcomes. About the Role: We are seeking a highly capable and hands-on Infrastructure Systems Engineer to manage and enhance our backend infrastructure in a predominantly Windows-based environment. This is a technical, infrastructure-first role requiring strong experience across virtualization, server administration, enterprise storage, and physical networking. The role includes a smaller portion of end-user and desktop support responsibilities. The ideal candidate is adaptable, technically well-rounded across infrastructure layers, comfortable operating independently, and able to shift focus in real time based on operational priorities. Periodic travel to our Raleigh, NC data center is required. The Role: - Manage Virtualization Platforms: Administer and enhance Hyper-V Virtualization Platform(strongly preferred); VMware or equivalent enterprise virtualization experience acceptable. - Build & Maintain Server Infrastructure: Provision, configure, and maintain physical and virtual Windows Server environments. - Administer Enterprise Storage: Manage environments with strong preference for storage systems, fiber channel configuration experience is a significant plus. - Support Physical Networking Infrastructure: Configure and troubleshoot network switches (Cisco preferred; Nexus a plus), VLANs, routing, firewalls, and VPNs. - Drive Reliability & Lifecycle Management: Lead patching, firmware updates, performance monitoring, capacity planning, and infrastructure lifecycle management. - Automate & Improve Operations: Utilize PowerShell scripting (strongly preferred) to improve operational efficiency, repeatability, and monitoring. - Provide Advanced Troubleshooting: Resolve complex, escalated infrastructure issues across virtualization, storage, and networking layers. - Support End Users When Needed: Provide occasional desktop and end-user technical support as part of broader infrastructure responsibilities. - Participate in On-Call & Onsite Work: Respond to high-impact incidents and travel periodically to the Raleigh data center for hands-on infrastructure support. Qualifications for Success: - 5+ years of progressive experience managing enterprise Windows infrastructure environments. - Demonstrated depth in virtualization technologies, with strong hands-on expertise in Hyper-V platform (preferred) or equivalent virtualization platforms. - Strong foundational knowledge across infrastructure layers including storage systems, and physical networking with the ability to understand how changes in one layer impact the broader environment. - Proven ability to independently troubleshoot complex, multi-layered infrastructure issues under pressure. - Strong working knowledge of enterprise storage concepts - Practical networking competency, including VLANs, routing fundamentals, and firewall configurations. - Comfort balancing infrastructure engineering responsibilities with occasional end-user support needs. - Strong communication skills and the ability to operate independently in a remote first environment while keeping stakeholders informed. - Automation mindset; PowerShell or similar scripting experience strongly preferred. The expected base salary for this position is: USD $80,000 - $100,000 excluding annual bonus and equity (when applicable).
