The TeamUpstart’s IT Engineering team enables a secure, scalable, and efficient technology environment that supports employees across the company. The team focuses on endpoint management, identity and access systems, and SaaS operations to ensure a seamless and reliable experience for internal users. As a Senior IT Engineer at Upstart, you will own and deliver IT initiatives from initial concept through deployment and ongoing optimization. You will partner across teams to design scalable systems, gather feedback, and continuously improve the employee technology experience in a fast-moving environment. How you’ll make an impact - Own end-to-end delivery of IT projects, from requirements gathering and system design through implementation and rollout - Design scalable and maintainable IT systems across device management, identity, and SaaS platforms - Manage and scale mobile device management (MDM) solutions for macOS and iOS devices using JAMF - Administer and optimize identity and access management systems, including Okta configuration, lifecycle management, and workflows - Own administration and integrations across core SaaS tools such as Google Workspace and Zoom - Collaborate cross-functionally to gather requirements, incorporate feedback, and improve system performance and user experience - Build automation to streamline IT operations and support a high-velocity, high-performing environment Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience) - 4+ years of experience managing macOS and iOS devices using JAMF or similar MDM platforms - 4+ years of experience administering Okta, including user lifecycle management and workflow automation - Experience administering enterprise SaaS applications such as Google Workspace and Zoom - Experience working with AWS services, including EC2 and S3 Preferred Qualifications - Experience leading technical projects from design through deployment with minimal oversight - Ability to design IT systems and workflows that scale across a growing organization - Experience working cross-functionally to gather requirements and incorporate stakeholder feedback - Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments and prioritize across competing initiatives - Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK, and familiarity with AI tools such as Claude, Codex, or Cursor Position locationThis role is available in the following locations: Remote Travel requirementsAs a digital first company, the majority of your work can be accomplished remotely. The majority of our employees can live and work anywhere in the U.S or Canada (outside of Quebec) but are expected to spend high quality time in-person collaborating via regular onsites and in-person meetings. The onsite cadence varies depending on the team and role; most teams meet once or twice per quarter for 2-4 consecutive days at a time. At Upstart, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the below range. Your actual base pay will depend on your geographic location–with our “digital first” philosophy, Upstart uses compensation regions that vary depending on location. Individual pay is also determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Role Description The IT Specialist is responsible for responding to inquiries and requests for assistance with the organization's computer systems and/or peripherals. - Incident analysis and resolution - Logs all service desk calls or email requests into Incident Management System (ServiceNow), assigns, updates, and resolves incidents as needed. - Analyzes and resolves incidents with a goal of 90% First Call Resolution. - Supports at a minimum Microsoft Office, Windows OS, and Remote Access. - Direct Service Desk Requests - Completes requests for Password Resets, User Provisioning, Software requests and implementation, printer mapping and support. - Logs all service desk email requests into Incident Management System (ServiceNow). - Incident prevention and continuous process improvement (when time permits) - Investigates causes, tests solutions, and puts solutions in place to reduce calls to the service desk. - Fixes causes, not just solutions.
