Role Description MasTec Technical Services is seeking a full-time OSP Designer in support of a large-scale telecommunications project for both OSP Fiber and Copper Networks. - Receive field data collected, analyze local and wide area network systems, and develop the most cost-efficient fiber/copper network route design in accordance with customer specifications and guidelines. - Read and understand road prints, utility maps, and as-builts to identify conflicts with existing facilities. - Collaborate with any necessary vendor, as well as internal GIS and CAD teams to produce all required documentation for application packages. - Follow very specific and detailed procedures already implemented while remaining flexible enough to readily adapt to changing standards and procedures without notice. - Coordinate with project team for forecasting, scheduling, resources management, and quality assurance. - Review project deliverables for accuracy and apprise project management team of risks, issues, and recommended mitigations. - Work in tandem with various managers across the project to identify scope creep, manage change orders, and complete routine billing. - Ensure the integrity of the customer access network is maintained and provide support for the deployment of access technologies. - Assist with as-built package completion and delivery as well as billing closeout. Qualifications - Sound OSP engineering experience deploying fiber optic and Copper networks. - Knowledge of engineering principles within OSP job related functional area including general practices, procedures and industry standards. - Knowledge of fiber optic and copper counts, fiber assignments, and splicing schematics in all OSP environments. - Knowledge of engineering tools including Microstation, AutoCAD, OCalc, 3-GIS, or any similar GIS/KMZ platforms. - Proficient in Adobe, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Google Sheets and Google Drive. - Possess STRONG communication & PEOPLE skills. - Strong language skills are required, both oral & written. - Show a “sense of urgency” to get the job done to meet all due dates. - Follow-up with our customer and provide a status of any and all assigned work. - Proven ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels: from team members to executive management. Responsibilities As a Project Manager, you are responsible for directing in-house crews and subcontractors. Also, they work directly with customers and are involved in bidding and billing projects. In addition, you will: - Manage and lead internal and external project teams to ensure on-budget and on-schedule delivery - Report and communicate to the external customer(s) and internal management each day - Build processes and teams required to deliver all project requirements - Coordinate with the Project Construction Lead for timing, execution, and closeout of individual projects - Lead weekly meetings with the client and project team - Send crews to projects and direct them on the overall tasks needed to be completed - Bid and bill each project once complete - Approve timesheets and daily logs - Ensure the crew has the correct equipment needed for the project - Perform other duties as required and/or assigned Qualifications About You: - Safety is a part of your day-to-day - You have a track record of completing work with a high level of quality - You have a knack for figuring out hard problems and enjoy a hands-on approach to your work - You are looking for long-term projects - You enjoy getting your hands dirty with your team - Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent - You have 3 years of construction project experience - You have advanced experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - Intermediate experience in schedule management - Able to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks - Possess good written and verbal communication skills - You have precise hand-eye coordination - Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships - Able to identify and distinguish colors - Able to read blueprints accurately - Able to communicate progress, highlight issues, and provide recommendations to senior leadership - Possess safety training and knowledge of OSHA requirements Hard work pays off.
