Lead Mechanical Engineer

Role Description Our client is a growing aerospace engineering firm based in Montreal, specializing in aircraft interior modifications, retrofit programs, and STC-certified engineering solutions. They are looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to own design execution, technical decisions, and project delivery across multiple aircraft interior modification programs. This is an ideal opportunity for a senior aerospace mechanical engineer who enjoys combining hands-on technical depth with team leadership in a fast-moving, high-ownership environment. What You'll Do - Lead mechanical design activities for aircraft interior modification and retrofit programs - Own engineering deliverables from concept development through drawing release - Translate customer modification concepts into certifiable and manufacturable design solutions - Serve as the key technical point of reference for: - design decisions - engineering trade-offs - technical problem solving - Review and guide the work of junior engineers and CAD designers - Oversee: - CATIA V5 3D modeling - detailed 2D drawing packages - engineering changes / ECNs - release documentation - Ensure compliance with applicable aerospace and certification standards - Partner closely with: - STC / certification teams - production and shop floor teams - suppliers - customers - Support project planning, prioritization, and execution in a collaborative small-team environment Qualifications - 7–12+ years of experience in aerospace mechanical design - Strong hands-on experience with: - aircraft interiors - cabin monuments - galleys - lavatories - retrofit / modification programs - Proven experience working in STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) environments - Advanced CATIA V5 expertise (must-have) - Strong capability in: - 3D modeling - detailed drawing creation - design package release - Demonstrated ability to: - own technical decisions - mentor engineers/designers - lead project design scope independently - Experience delivering full design packages end-to-end, not only partial subsystem work Benefits - High-ownership leadership role with direct technical influence - Canada-remote flexibility with only occasional Montreal travel - Tight-knit aerospace engineering team with strong collaboration - Exposure to certified aircraft interior programs and visible project impact - 4 weeks vacation - Fully paid insurance benefits - Flexible work environment - Long-term growth as the team continues to scale
