Job Description

Lead Design Engineer, Substation

E2 Consulting Engineers, Inc.

• Responsible for the design of deliverables associated with substation design projects supporting one of our largest electric utility clients. • Attends project site visits to assist in the development of scope of work and help define project objectives. • Prepares engineering cost estimate and man-hour estimates and schedules. • Develops top level documents for Electrical Physical and Protection & Control packages. • Provides guidance to junior engineers and/or designers in the development of detailed design documents. • Performs calculations for studies and reports including, but not limited to, grounding & lightning protection, and AC/DC load studies. • Prepares equipment specifications for procurement of major equipment. • Performs quality control reviews of design calculations, and drawings. • Provides short term field support during construction. • Coordinate design activities with other disciplines (Civil/structural, telecom, transmission, etc.) • Serves as technical advisor for the team.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET approved college or university
  • 8+ years of experience working in substation design or similar with utility or consulting engineering firm
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional Engineer’s License in Electrical Engineering preferred but not required
  • Experience leading a team of engineers and designers designing substation projects
  • Experience with designing substations.
