Qualifications - Experience: 8+ years in high-volume consumer electronics design. - Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. - Expertise in circuit design: Low-power systems, lithium-ion battery-powered devices, RF systems (Wi-Fi, LTE, GNSS), sensing technologies, and digital communication buses. - Antenna design experience: A major plus. - Technical skills: Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium preferred), advanced lab skills with tools like DMMs, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers, and the ability to solder SMD components down to 0201 level under a microscope. - Collaborative mindset: Strong communication skills and experience working with technical and non-technical teams across multiple countries. - Firmware understanding: Familiarity with firmware concepts and experience with C or Python for embedded systems testing and debugging. - Track record: Proven experience leading the electronics design lifecycle from prototype through to mass production. - Flexibility: Willingness to travel to China as needed. - Animal lover: A passion for animals is a plus—our NYC office is pet-friendly! Salary The anticipated base salary range for this position is $150,000–$225,000. Actual compensation will vary based on multiple factors, including skills, experience, market conditions, and role scope, which may evolve during the hiring process. **What you'll do:** - Provide technical direction and support during the development, construction, commissioning, and operation of renewable energy assets. - Ensure all projects meet design standards and maintain high-quality engineering designs. - Collaborate with customers, utilities, AHJs, and third-party consultants to support the design and engineering of complex projects. - Stay abreast of industry developments, new project requirements, and emerging trends to inform project strategies. - Share technical knowledge by coordinating with cross-functional teams throughout various project phases. - Deliver design, modeling, and technical support from initial customer solution designs through to successful project implementation and operation. - Model and optimize engineering designs, review engineering studies (load flow and short circuit analysis), create networking designs for site communication to meet project specifications and regulatory standards. - Create preliminary 1-line for projects in development to depict equipment sizing and interconnection topologies. - Provide technical support to O&M team for operational systems.

• As part of Intersect’s Microgrid Engineering team, you’ll apply advanced power system theory, simulation expertise, and real-world engineering judgment to design and validate high-performance microgrid control systems. • You’ll partner closely with controls engineers, electrical design teams, external suppliers, and utility operators to develop fit-for-purpose power system models and validate controller behavior across both normal and contingency conditions. • Your work will help prove what’s possible—supporting microgrids that reliably power gigawatts of critical datacenter load at unprecedented scale. • Build and oversee the development of detailed EMT and dynamic models representing loads, supervisory controls, protection schemes, and generation assets including batteries, wind, PV, reciprocating engines, and turbines. • Identify key system parameters from design documentation, requirements, and field data to ensure models accurately reflect real-world behavior. • Identify and simulate contingency events such as breaker trips, generator failures, and fault conditions to confirm system stability and performance. • Collaborate with adjacent engineering teams to understand system design, control logic, communication latencies, and protection schemes, feeding simulation insights back into design decisions. • Participate in Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, site validation planning, and performance verification. • Support post-event analysis through field data review, model correlation, and model playback to continuously improve system fidelity.
