System Administrator
Kyndryl
• Collaborate with internal service teams to resolve infrastructure issues • Perform hardware validation and interact with Compute, Networking, and Storage teams • Contribute to the maintenance of a large, globally distributed VMWare vSphere and Proxmox infrastructure • Support and sustain storage solutions based on NFS, iSCSI, and ZFS • Troubleshoot and repair hardware defects on x86 and IBM Power servers and components (CPU, RAM, RAID controllers, storage devices, network interfaces, power supplies, etc.) • Help administer and maintain the health of Skytap’s global infrastructure, including responding to alerts and recovering from service-impacting incidents • Work with the Infrastructure Networking team to configure and troubleshoot WAN/LAN connectivity, routers, switches, and security, and open provider tickets as needed • Follow standard workflows to respond to alerts for services operated in public cloud environments • Track provider outages and communicate timely updates to internal stakeholders • Escalate and communicate non-standard issues to the appropriate internal engineering teams, including on-call escalation
Job Requirements
- 3+ years of technical experience with strong knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems
- 3+ years of experience in hardware deployment, management, and troubleshooting (preferably with HPE, Dell, Supermicro; IBM Power experience is a plus)
- Scripting experience using Bash/Shell
- Experience with virtualization/cloud technologies such as VMWare (preferred), OpenStack, AWS, Azure
- Familiarity with configuration management and orchestration tools like Ansible and Puppet
- Proficiency with monitoring and logging tools such as Zabbix, InfluxDB, Kapacitor, Splunk, and ELK
- Understanding of network configuration and diagnostics.
- Knowledge of security concepts and technologies, including AAA, encryption, and server hardening
- Working knowledge of Jira, Confluence, or similar ticketing and documentation tools
- Some experience working with ISPs or utility computing providers to raise and track trouble tickets
- Exposure to managing resources in cloud-native environments such as AWS or Azure (e.g., operating a small service or completing AWS Cloud Practitioner or Azure Administrator training)
- Excellent English reading, writing, and speaking skills.
