Assistant Vice President – Operations, Trade Operations, Imports

Mashreq

• Oversee and guide the Trade Operations-Imports department, ensuring the delivery of exceptional services. • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, providing valuable advice on trade finance activities. • Implement effective controls to mitigate risks. • Provide expert advice and consultation to commercial customers on a range of trade finance services, including export finance, payments, and document checking. • Develop and implement robust procedures aligned with the bank's policies and guidelines. • Lead a customer-centric initiative to reduce referrals and improve turnaround times for customers. • Manage and coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring successful and compliant outcomes.

Job Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field, with a strong preference for a master's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in trade finance operations, with a proven track record in a leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of international trade practices, including ICC publications, OPM, APPM, and local regulations.
  • Strong understanding of VAT and UAE regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance in all trade operations.
  • Excellent knowledge of trade sanctions and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) regulations, with the ability to perform due diligence checks.
  • Proficiency in commodity trade operations and the handling of relevant documents.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities, identifying process gaps and implementing effective controls.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a team, fostering a collaborative and customer-centric work environment.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and systems used in trade finance operations, with a willingness to adapt to new technologies.
