This role is remote but requires residency in the Raleigh, NC area for periodic collaboration and operational support needs. Position: Senior Costpoint Accountant Location: Raleigh, NC Position Type: Permanent Job Summary The Senior Costpoint Accountant will be responsible for end-to-end accounting functions including general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoice preparation within Costpoint, cost pool allocations, indirect rate calculations, reconciliations, financial forecasting, and full monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. This individual will ensure accuracy of financial data, maintain compliance with FAR/CAS requirements, and support the CFO with financial reporting and strategic analysis. Key Responsibilities: General Accounting & Close Cycles • Lead and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. • Prepare journal entries, accruals, amortizations, and adjustments. • Perform reconciliations for all balance sheet and operational accounts. • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy across Costpoint modules. • Support preparation of internal financial statements and management reporting. Accounts Payable • Process vendor invoices, coordinate purchase order and receiving matching, and maintain AP records. • Perform three-way match and resolve discrepancies with internal stakeholders. • Manage AP aging, vendor communication, and payment scheduling support. Accounts Receivable & Billing • Prepare and validate customer invoices in Costpoint according to contract terms and billing models (T&M, CPFF, FFP). • Monitor unbilled balances, revenue recognition drivers, and project funding. • Support collections tracking and cash receipt application processes. Cost Accounting, Indirect Rates, & Pool Management • Maintain cost pools, service centers, and allocation structures within Costpoint. • Perform indirect rate calculations, rollups, and monthly cost allocations. • Prepare burdening, cost distribution, and indirect cost adjustments. • Support CFO in indirect rate modeling and forward pricing/forecasting. Project Accounting • Set up projects, work breakdown structures (WBS), and revenue parameters. • Monitor project actuals versus budgets, funding, and allowable costs. • Ensure labor, expenses, and materials are properly charged and allocated. • Provide reporting to project managers and senior leadership. Forecasting & Financial Analysis • Prepare periodic forecasts related to labor utilization, indirect rates, expenses, and cash flow. • Support annual budgeting and financial planning cycles. • Provide financial analysis and decision support to the CFO and leadership team. Compliance & Audit Support • Ensure compliance with GAAP, FAR, CAS, and internal policies. • Support internal and external audit requirements, providing schedules and documentation. • Maintain audit-ready accounting processes with strong internal controls. Costpoint System Ownership & Process Improvement • Serve as the organization’s primary Deltek Costpoint subject matter expert for accounting functions. • Recommend and implement process improvements, system enhancements, and workflow automation. • Coordinate system support and troubleshooting with Deltek or relevant technical teams. Qualifications Required • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years of hands-on Deltek Costpoint work. • Strong understanding of government contracting accounting principles, indirect rates, cost pools, and FAR/CAS compliance. • Demonstrated experience running full close cycles (monthly/quarterly/year-end). • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently. • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment while maintaining strong communication and accountability. • Must reside in the Raleigh, NC area. Preferred • CPA highly desirable • Experience in a small-to-mid–sized government contractor environment. • Experience preparing invoices across multiple contract types. • Familiarity with budgeting and forecasting tools within Costpoint. • CMA, CGFM, or similar credentials are desirable.
