Senior Cloud Engineer

• Administer and maintain environments on the Microsoft Azure platform, including virtual machines, storage, networking, load balancers, and managed services; • Manage Linux and Windows servers, ensuring patching, hardening, and automation; • Administer and configure IIS (Internet Information Services) for hosting web applications; • Manage and operate AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service), including deployments, scaling, troubleshooting, cluster upgrades, and integration with Azure services; • Configure and maintain NGINX (reverse proxy, load balancing, TLS/SSL, performance optimizations); • Ensure connectivity between on-premises environments and Azure (VPN, ExpressRoute, VNet peering, routing, firewalls); • Respond to incidents, problems, and changes following ITSM best practices; • Create and maintain technical documentation for environments; • Support Azure automation initiatives using Azure CLI and Terraform.
Job Requirements
- Proven experience administering the Azure platform (IaaS and PaaS);
- Advanced knowledge of Windows Server (IIS services, tuning, and troubleshooting);
- Experience administering and operating AKS / Kubernetes;
- Knowledge of NGINX (configuration, SSL, reverse proxy, load balancing);
- Experience with Azure networking (VNets, NSGs, Firewalls, Route Tables, VPN Gateway);
- Familiarity with automation and scripting tools (PowerShell, Azure CLI, YAML);
- Understanding of security, governance, and cost-control practices in Azure;
- Preferred: Microsoft certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305);
- Experience with CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).

The Work: ICF is seeking an accomplished Cloud Architect with deep expertise in AWS to lead the design and implementation of secure, enterprise‑scale cloud solutions in a complex federal environment. The ideal candidate brings over a decade of experience architecting n‑tier, service‑oriented applications integrating multiple COTS products, and can operate effectively within mission‑driven organizations requiring the highest levels of security. Job Location: Although this position is remote, the candidate needs to live in the Washington DC metro area.
