Aruba Certified Network Engineer

Role Description By Light is seeking an experienced HPE/Aruba Network Engineer to perform LAN/WLAN network design, development, installation/configuration, packaging, testing, implementing, and Tier 3 level troubleshooting of multi-vendor network-related equipment in support of government solutions ranging from single stand-alone to large-scale enterprise environments. The primary responsibility for this position includes: - All engineering tasks associated with WLAN/LAN task orders involving wireless network solutions in classified and non-classified environments. - Capturing and analyzing technical requirements. - Documenting detailed system designs, implementation plans, and operations guides of network systems. - Participating in project and operational meetings. - Providing Tier 3 level support utilizing change control processes. - Serving as a reach-back to field engineering teams supporting various infrastructure projects. Qualifications - Education: Bachelor’s Degree, or an AS/AA or two-year Tech School with 2-5 years of experience; or HS/GED with 5+ years of targeted experience; or a BA in a relevant technical area with 5 years of targeted experience. - A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the wireless and network communications industry is required. - Security + / DoD 8140 certification level IAT-I (must have within 3 months of hire). - Must have a current HPE/Aruba Professional level certification in at least one of the following: - HPE/Aruba Professional Campus Access - HPE/Aruba Professional Data Center - HPE/Aruba Professional Switching - HPE/Aruba Professional Network Security - HPE/Aruba Advanced Product Certified - ClearPass - Aruba Certified Switch Professional (ACSP) - Familiarity with survey analysis software and equipment. - Proficiency with Aruba’s Airwave management platform. - Knowledge of DNS & DHCP functions. - Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Visio. - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to interact well with both internal and external engineers, technicians, and customers. - Must be able to multi-task and provide daily status/updates to supervisors/managers. - Candidate must be a self-starter and possess the ability to identify all subtasks, prioritize work, and determine the tools/material required to accomplish their assigned tasks within the allotted time. Requirements - This position requires frequent travel. - Responsible for the research and development of existing and new wireless technologies used to optimize and maintain DOD, commercial, and corporate networks. - Working with 3rd party and internal departments in integrating wireless equipment with current WAN and security infrastructure. - Optimizing LAN/WLAN network performance while fulfilling security requirements for user/device authentication, encryption, and intrusion detection, i.e., 802.1x RADIUS Authentication using EAP-TLS. - Responsible for installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and modification of network hardware and software, including: - Providing Tier 3 support with LAN/WLAN networks, client devices, including hand-held devices and associated LAN and WAN connectivity. - Documentation of installed networks, including systems design, operations and implementations guides, Visio design drawings, etc. - Maintaining the security and integrity of all wireless hardware and software. Role Description As a Fiber Documentation Technician, you will be responsible for designing, documenting, and optimizing fiber optic networks to support xAI’s high-performance infrastructure. This is a field-intensive role requiring approximately 50% travel. You will conduct site surveys, produce detailed OSP/ISP designs, manage cross-connects, perform basic fiber testing, and ensure accurate records in our tools. You thrive in dynamic environments, pay close attention to detail, and are comfortable working outdoors and in data center or telecom facilities. Responsibilities - Document and design fiber networks using IQGeo Network Manager and CAD, including route modeling, data import, and report generation. - Conduct site surveys and produce detailed OSP (aerial/underground) and ISP (building entry/riser) connectivity designs in GIS and/or CAD. - Survey, document, and install/run jumpers for new and existing fiber cross-connects; maintain accurate records in IQGeo and CAD. - Perform basic fiber testing with VFL (fault location) and OPM (power/loss measurement); clean connectors and inspect end-faces. Apply basic OTDR skills and interpret fiber trace reports. - Collaborate with teams to install and maintain OXC jumpers in a clean and orderly manner. - Collaborate with teams on projects, permitting, and QA; ensure compliance with industry standards. - Work with OSP and Construction teams to create, submit, and/or monitor permits. Qualifications - 5+ years of hands-on experience in fiber optic network design, surveying, testing, and OSP/ISP deployments (experience may substitute for formal education). - Proficiency with IQGeo Network Manager and CAD or similar geospatial design tools. - Experience with fiber testing equipment (VFL, OPM) and cross-connect/jumper installations. - Valid driver’s license and physical capability for field work, including walking varied terrain, ladder use, and cable handling. - Ability to travel ~50% (including overnights). Preferred Skills and Experience - Relevant certifications such as CFOT or Fiber Optic Technician. - Strong knowledge of fiber optic standards, connector cleaning/inspection, and jumper/cross-connect routing. - Experience with NetBox (or similar DCIM/IPAM tools) is a plus. - Experience collaborating on permitting processes and QA in telecom or data center environments. - Excellent analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills. - Laser safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices. - Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, hands-on environment with strong attention to detail.
