WORK SCHEDULE - 100% FTE – 40 hours per week - Day Shift – UW MEDICINE ITS SERVICES CORE HOURS ARE 08:00 – 17:00 (PST), Monday-Friday DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION UW Medicine IT Services (ITS) is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), UW Medicine Primary Care (UWMPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS - 100% remote opportunity - 15 days of vacation your first year – Also, 12 days of sick time, 1 personal holiday, and 11 paid holidays each year - 100% matching, 100% immediately vesting 403(b) PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES - Performing basic to intermediate level support in the development and implementation of system and interface enhancements and fixes in the Cloverleaf, Epic Bridges, and Interconnect systems - Analyzing basic to intermediate level information system and interface problems, interviewing system users, and determining preliminary user requirements and problems; then identifying, developing, and evaluating alternative solutions to the issue - Taking a central role in partnering with IT Services teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system problems essential to a mission-critical healthcare setting, ensuring outstanding customer service with clear, thorough, and proactive communication - Participating in the implementation of ITS organization level projects including new interfaces REQUIREMENTS - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience - 2+ years’ of recent IT experience must include the below: - Working with an electronic health record (EHR) system or supporting clinical applications, with basic understanding of hospital or clinical workflows (e.g., scheduling, registration/ADT, orders, patient care) - Assisting with systems analysis, basic troubleshooting, or application support tasks - Learning or supporting healthcare interface technologies (HL7, X12, etc.) in a training, internship, or limited professional capacity - Exposure to databases or experience completing coursework related to data structures, data definitions, or SQL querying - Interest in or introductory experience with interface engines such as Cloverleaf or Epic Bridges - Familiarity with basic project coordination or participation in structured project work - Understanding of common operating systems and general IT concepts - Interest in learning healthcare regulatory requirements, standards (HL7, ANSI) and system integration practices - Exposure to the software development lifecycle through coursework, internships, or previous roles - Basic understanding of moving changes between test and production environments (academic or hands‑on experience) - Interest in developing real-time data interfaces in TCP/IP environments - Willingness to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical team members - Experience using secured file transfer tools or the ability to learn them quickly - Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Visio, Project) - Ability to obtain the following certifications within the first year of employment (none required at time of application): - Cloverleaf Level 1 certification - Epic Bridges certification UW MEDICINE – WHERE YOUR IMPACT GOES FURTHER UW Medicine is Washington’s only health system that includes a top-rated medical school and an internationally recognized research center.
