What You Will Do Direct Fundraising Responsibilities – 85% - Develop and implement a strategic major gifts plan in partnership with the Senior Director for Philanthropy for the UW Medicine’s Institute for Protein Design, as well as other emerging priorities as assigned. - Manage a major gift and private foundation portfolio with annual expectations of 75–125 substantive donor contacts, 5–15 major gift qualifications, and 5-10 major gift solicitations, resulting in $375K–$5 million raised annually. - Partner with the Senior Director for Philanthropy, Associate Vice President for Development, department leaders, and advancement colleagues to define fundraising priorities and implement strategies to sustain major gift support. - Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects—including faculty referrals and grateful patients—by developing individualized cultivation and solicitation strategies and preparing proposals, endowment agreements, gift illustrations, and related materials. - Recruit, train, and support volunteers in leadership roles that advance major gift fundraising, when appropriate. Staff volunteer fundraising partnerships and committees as assigned. - Coordinate major gift fundraising activities with UW Medicine Advancement colleagues and University Advancement partners, including Gift Planning, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Principal Gifts, and Regional Gifts. Demonstrate strong communication and collaboration in an environment with shared donors and overlapping portfolios. Strategy, Partnerships and Program Development – 15% - Discern and inform strategy development promoting philanthropic priorities. - Assist Senior Director with establishment of annual goals, objectives for areas of fundraising responsibilities. Role Description The National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Region 5 (R5) has an outstanding opportunity for a Temporary Grants Manager to join their team. Reporting to the R5 Executive Director, this position supports the operations of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Region 5 University of Washington / National Institutes of Health (NIH) cooperative agreement. The Grants Manager will support the R5 team by: - Developing and writing proposals and external communications. - Compiling and writing progress and final reports. - Providing pre-and post-award management for the primary award and subawards. - Producing budget expense and balance projection reports on demand. - Managing budget allocations and fiscal procedures in compliance with UW and NLM cooperative agreement policies and regulations. Weekly hours will vary, typically 10-12 hours per week. Role Description The Clinical Trials Office has an outstanding opportunity for a Clinical Research Billing Specialist to join their team. Reporting to the Clinical Research Billing Manager, the Clinical Research Billing Specialist supports the clinical research mission of UW Medicine by helping ensure accurate, compliant, and timely research billing and revenue cycle operations across a complex clinical trials portfolio. This role is a key resource within the Clinical Research Budget and Billing program, partnering with billing colleagues, study teams, practice sites, and other stakeholders to translate billing grids, Epic workflows, OnCore data, and Medicare rules into practical, high-quality operations. This is an opportunity to contribute to a central clinical research operation that helps bring important new therapies to patients while protecting UW Medicine from financial, regulatory, and reputational risk. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment; bring strong judgment and customer service; and enjoy solving complex billing and systems questions with accuracy, care, and a service-forward mindset. Key Responsibilities - Epic Research Billing Workflows (30%) - Review research billing activity to ensure charges route according to the study billing grid and Epic charge documentation, with attention to high-dollar and aging accounts. - Resolve charge review, claim edit, “No Rules,” and other escalated research billing questions in partnership with Research Billing Coordinators and other departments. - Epic Single Business Office (SBO) Research Invoicing Workflows (30%) - Support timely generation of SBO research invoices, including reviewing and processing invoice corrections and claims of missing charges. - Process invoice payments and follow up on aging research invoices to promote timely payment and accurate revenue cycle outcomes. - OnCore Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS)/Epic Interface (20%) - Ensure accurate handoff from OnCore to Epic when studies are activated, amended, or updated through subject enrollment changes. - Perform quality control of study and enrollment records and provide clear, constructive feedback to study teams as needed. - Patient Claims Review (10%) - Respond to questions about patients’ research study participation and the relationship between study activity and patient billing. - Identify trends or complex issues in patient claims review and escalate concerns to the Team Lead or Manager when appropriate. - Medicare Rules: Application and Training (10%) - Apply independent judgment in interpreting Medicare Clinical Trials Policy requirements and UW Medicine clinical research budgeting and billing policies and procedures. - Provide accurate guidance, training, and customer service to CRBB colleagues, investigators, research staff, and practice site partners on research billing policies, procedures, and tools. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in science, business, healthcare administration, or a related field and at least two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwarded to the Hiring Manager. In collaboration with Development colleagues supporting the Natural Sciences, this position will help plan, manage and direct advancement activities and efforts to secure gifts primarily from individuals. The Assistant Director will translate the college vision and strategic plan to diverse audiences and build strong relationships between prospective donors and the College of Arts & Sciences, resulting in opportunities to invest in students, faculty, programs and research. This position will hold a portfolio comprised of individuals who have an interest in philanthropically supporting priorities in the Division of Natural Sciences, which comprises nine degree-granting departments: Applied Mathematics, Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology, Speech & Hearing Sciences, Statistics. What You Will Do Frontline Fundraising (80%) - Identify and cultivate prospective donors, develop relationships and advance them through the donor continuum from discovery to gift conversion. - Build and sustain long-term partnerships and trust while aligning donor passion and goals with division and college priorities. - Manage a large portfolio of leads with the potential of raising major gifts.
