Starburst

At Starburst, we are working to dismantle the status quo of data silos and vendor lock-in every single day. Starburst offers a full-featured data lake analytics platform, built on open-source Trino. Our platform includes all the capabilities needed to discover, organize, and consume data without the need for time-consuming and costly migration projects. Today more than 200 leading organizations trust us to make better decisions faster. Though Starburst has raised $414M in venture funding from top investors, we were founded in a rather unusual way as we bootstrapped the business with customers and revenue from the very beginning! We are a remote-first company with employees all over the world and are proud to be named a Best Place to Work. Our founders are the creators of Trino (and previously Presto at Facebook). 10 years ago, they created Trino as the analytic database to stand the test of time. Funny enough, they never had any intentions to start a company around it. 5 years ago, we started Starburst with a similarly audacious goal: To build an iconic company that would stand the test of time. We are solving exceptionally complex and meaningful challenges here and as we innovate, we each have the opportunity to build our careers alongside Starbursts’s growth. Starburst has raised $414 million in venture funding and we are hiring across all functions to support our massive growth!

Lead technical enablement sessions and workshops for partner engineers, architects, and field sellers. - Drive proof-of-concept (POC) activities in collaboration with partners to validate joint solutions and accelerate adoption. - Act as the technical voice of partners within Starburst — advocating for partner needs, integration improvements, and ecosystem enhancements. - Collaborate with internal teams (Engineering, Product Management, and Support) to resolve partner technical challenges and influence roadmap priorities. - Develop and share best practices, solution guides, and technical content that strengthens the partner community. - Represent Starburst at partner events, conferences, and joint marketing initiatives as a technical thought leader. Some of the things we look for: - Proven experience in a Solution Architect, Partner Engineer, or Technical Alliances role - Strong technical expertise in big data technologies, data lakes, data warehouses, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). - Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence both technical and business audiences. - Demonstrated success in building and scaling technical partnerships and driving joint solutions to market. - Hands-on proficiency with SQL and experience with data migration, integration, or performance tuning. - Ability to travel as needed to partner and customer engagements. Ability to Travel: This role will require 25% in-person travel for purposes including but not limited to new hire onboarding, team and department offsites, customer engagements, and other company events. Actual travel expectations may vary by role and business needs. Starburst is dedicated to maintaining fair and equitable compensation practices. Pluralsight

We’re the technology workforce development company that helps individuals and organizations transform with tech skills.

Full TimeRemoteTeam 1,001-5,000Since 2004H1B Sponsor

Job Description: Pluralsight is looking for a Billing Solution Architect with a learner’s mindset to join our team! We value innovative thinking, proven problem-solving skills, and team communication. We are looking to build creative new billing solutions for both our customers and internal partners, and would love a collaborative engineer comfortable with crafting custom integrations to join us on our journey. In this role, you’ll help build and run the systems and integrations that enable Pluralsight’s end-to-end Quote-to-Cash process. You’ll work closely with Billing, Payments, Product, and Engineering partners to configure billing capabilities, support integrations between the Pluralsight platform and third-party systems, and improve reliability, scalability, and observability of our billing ecosystem. You’ll be a strong fit if you enjoy solving system problems, working with data, and turning business needs into practical technical solutions. Who you’re committed to being: - You enjoy learning and are open to new ways of doing things. - You are not afraid to be yourself, experiment, make mistakes and learn from them, ask questions, or voice your concerns. - When communicating you are self-aware, insightful, and proactive. - You are a team member first and individual contributor second. You are aware that high-performing teams are only as strong as their weakest link. What you’ll do: - Contribute to billing implementations and enhancements by supporting solution design and delivering hands-on configuration/development work (e.g., product/catalog setup, invoicing, taxes, proration, subscriptions, amendments, collections workflows). - Build and maintain integrations connecting the Pluralsight platform, CRM/CPQ, billing, payments, tax, and other back-end systems (APIs, event streams, middleware), including monitoring and operational support. - Partner in discovery and requirements workshops by gathering requirements, documenting current/future-state flows, and producing clear outputs (process maps, user stories, acceptance criteria, basic prototypes). - Translate business requirements into technical designs by contributing to conceptual/logical architecture artifacts (data flows, integration patterns, system diagrams) and proposing trade-offs. - Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues between billing and downstream systems (revenue/finance, provisioning, identity, reporting), including root-cause analysis and preventative fixes. - Support performance and scalability improvements through tuning, bulk operations strategies, retry patterns, idempotency, and identifying bottlenecks in billing and integration flows. - Improve observability and operational readiness by defining logging/metrics/alerts, writing runbooks, and supporting incident response for billing-related production issues. - Support delivery execution by estimating work, contributing to sprint planning, maintaining Jira hygiene, and raising risks/dependencies early with clear mitigation options. Experience you’ll bring: - Hands-on experience with billing or subscription platforms (e.g., Zuora, Chargebee, Stripe Billing, Recurly, Adyen and/or comparable tools), including configuration and/or integration work. - 3+ years of experience in billing systems implementation, solutions engineering, or backend/integration engineering in a SaaS environment (subscription or usage-based billing preferred). - Experience contributing to at least one implementation or major enhancement of a billing platform (full lifecycle is a plus, but not required). - Working knowledge of recurring billing concepts: subscriptions, renewals, proration, amendments, invoicing, credits/refunds, taxes/VAT, dunning/collections, and payment retries. - Strong integration fundamentals: REST APIs, webhooks/events, authentication, data mapping, idempotency, retries, and basic troubleshooting across distributed systems. - Familiarity with Salesforce (CRM and/or CPQ) and how upstream objects/processes impact billing downstream (order/quote/account/product structures). (Deep architecture ownership not required.) - Comfort operating in Agile delivery with Jira (writing user stories, acceptance criteria, sizing, sprint participation). - Strong written and verbal communication: ability to document requirements clearly, communicate status/risks, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders. - Experience with middleware/iPaaS (e.g., Mulesoft, Workato, Boomi) or event streaming patterns. - Experience supporting Finance/RevOps needs (revenue recognition touchpoints, reconciliation, reporting). - Exposure to checkout/payments concepts (authorization/settlement, SCA/3DS, declines, retries, tokenization). Requirements: - Requires a minimum of 5 years of related or equivalent experience; or 3+ years with an advanced degree. - This is a remote role; however, applicants located within 45 miles of our Westlake/Dallas, TX office should expect to work on-site Tuesday through Thursday, with remote flexibility on Mondays and Fridays. This approach enables more effective collaboration, quicker decision-making, and a stronger culture, while still providing flexibility. Why you’ll love working here: - We work in a blended environment that supports collaboration, flexibility, and connection across teams. - We are mission-driven, shaping the future of tech upskillling and delivering impact that matters. - We foster a culture of inclusion and belonging, where everyone can contribute and thrive. - We are always learning, creating an environment where you can take on new challenges, expand your skills, and grow with purpose. - Benefits include competitive compensation, bonus eligibility, comprehensive medical coverage, unlimited PTO, wellness reimbursement, professional development funds, and more.
